๐บ๐ธ Los Angeles Food | Japanese Spot โ Osawa
๐ด Restaurant: Osawa Shabu Shabu & Sushi ๐ Address: 77 N Raymond Ave, Pasadena, CA 91103 ๐ฐ Price: $35โ150 per person When I was in Beijing, what I missed most were LAโs Japanese and Korean spots โ so right after coming back, I gathered my girlfriends for a feast! ๐ญ๐ญ๐ป Osawa is a lowโkey little place in Pasadena thatโs now a hotspot โ if you donโt book ahead, expect to wait over an hour. A lot of Japanese food in the U.S. is adapted for Western tastes โ think ramen ๐, hot pot ๐ฒ, and sushi rolls. But as an ocean girl at heart, I love fresh, unadorned seafood and sashimi ๐ฃ. Osawaโs sashimi is super fresh, with a daily special menu featuring ingredients flown in that day. The price range is wide because they offer budgetโfriendly lunch sets (under $35), popular with local office workers. We four girls focused on sushi โ each had about 14 pieces, shared two bottles of sake, plus appetizers and dessert, coming to ~$130 per person. ๐ Top Recommendations ๐ ๐ฅ Live Ark Shell (Akagai) โ Todayโs winner! I love that icyโcrisp texture, with a lingering taste of the sea. ๐ฅ Sweet Shrimp โ Fresh, sweet, and delicious ๐๐ป ๐ฅ Uni + Live Scallop โ Couldnโt choose between them โ so good we each ordered an extra portion. Our girl squad is united as hardcore uni fans! โ Yellowtail โ Toro โ Tamago (egg omelet) I always end my sashimi meal with a piece of tamago โ my perfect finish ๐๐๐ โ ๏ธ Book via Yelp app!
