🇺🇸 New Orleans 5-Day Food Guide: Hits & Misses 🍤⚜️

——— ❌ MISSES ❌ ——— 🖤 Luke Mediocre happy hour oysters 🦪 + confusing duck breast entree. The duck was at most medium-rare, oddly textured, overly smoky, and too salty 😣. The rice underneath felt soggy — like overcooked sticky rice — and was also oversalted. An entree that made me question life with every bite 🤯. 🖤 Café Du Monde Riverwalk Only serves coffee and beignets — both tasted like “well, we’re here, might as well try” but ended up pretty forgettable 🫤. One plus: it’s right by the Mississippi River. Nice for a walk along the water after eating, and there’s a small outlet mall nearby. ——— ❤️ HITS ❤️ ——— ❤️ Willie’s Chicken Shack (Bourbon St) A local fried chicken chain that wowed even a non-fried-chicken lover like me! 🍗 I used to swear by Jollibee, but their 2-piece chicken was so juicy — it burst with flavor like crispy young pigeon back home 🕊️. Comes with fries and a biscuit, but those were basically filler. ❤️ Zesty Creole A must-try for local flavor, and here’s why: “Taste of NOLA” lets you sample regional classics like seafood gumbo in one meal 🥘. Their homemade biscuit made me, a biscuit skeptic, eat my words — finished the whole thing! Flaky, savory, not dry at all 👏. ❤️ Lux Cafe Walked in for brunch and ordered the crawfish omelet — look how packed it is when I lifted the egg! 🦞 The eggs felt like pure egg mixture (no starch water?), but the amount of crawfish inside was unreal! Flavor was mild (light Cajun vibe), but the generous fillings won major respect. ❤️ Daiwa Sushi No explanation needed — this place comes highly recommended and is worth the drive outside downtown NOLA 🍣. ❤️ Ruby Slipper Super popular but you can walk in and wait — and it’s worth it! Try the “Trifecta”: 3 types of eggs Benedict 🍳 — fried chicken, pulled pork, and fried green tomato. Each one is flawless in taste and texture. Hearty, satisfying, and impossible to finish. A signature dish that truly delivers! #NewOrleansEats #NOLAFood #FoodReview #EatLikeALocal #TravelNOLA #Foodie
