🇺🇸 Philadelphia|Stunning Cannoli from a 🇮🇹 Century-Old Bakery
"Would a shop named 'Auntie's' or 'Uncle's' lie? Definitely a time-tested gem!" — That 1904 sign probably works the same charm 😄. Located in Philly's historic Italian quarter, Isgro Pastries has been around for over 120 years. It's tiny — no seating, just a few staff, including a sweet Italian-speaking grandmother who lit up when Italian customers walked in. Cookies are sold by weight (mix-and-match), pastry cakes are $7 each, and key lime tarts $8 each. 🌟🌟🌟 Mascarpone Cannoli – A must-try! The shop's signature and truly amazing. Only three Isgro family members know the secret recipe. Mascarpone cream infused with their special liquor — lightly sweet, not heavy, crispy shell, ends dipped in dark chocolate. Perfect texture and flavor — highly recommended! Other flavors are great too, I hear. 🌟 Tiramisu – Made with cake layers, not ladyfingers. Cream isn’t sweet, coffee flavor is rich, but the cake inside is a bit sugary — pairs well with coffee. 🌟 Mixed Cookies – No bad picks! All delicious and unique, though might be a tad sweet for Asian tastes. I loved the ones with tangy jam inside — adds nice layers. 🤨 Coconut Layer Cake – Tread carefully. An elegant regular customer recommended it to this coconut lover. But… the cream had no coconut flavor — just shredded coconut on top. Cake itself was bland and heavy. My least favorite of the visit. 🍴 Isgro Pastries 📍 1009 Christian St, Philadelphia, PA 19147 💰 ~$10–20 per person #WorthATripForFood #HiddenGemCity #Philly #PhillyEats #PhillyLife #PhillyDesserts #ItalianFood
