🇺🇸 Portland | Food Collection 🍽️

Whenever there’s a long weekend without special plans, I find myself wandering around Portland 🚗💨. While Vancouver’s food scene is hard to beat, hotel prices there are sky-high 🏨💸, and driving back same-day is just too exhausting. Portland? No sales tax 🛒😍, and full of great affordable eats! Here are some tried-and-true spots I recommend ~ Asian Cuisine: 🍣 Akizawa Japanese Restaurant – Pretty new! Unagi don is a must-order 🍱🔥—way better than Seattle’s. Their tonkatsu is super crispy, and grilled cod/fish collar (like Tai Kama) are delicious too. Surprisingly, the nigiri was just okay—not the freshest, and they went heavy on the wasabi… made me cry! 😢🌿 🍛 Somtum Thai – Generally decent. The raw shrimp was pretty good 🦐👌. 🥪 Tokyo Sando & Bing Mi – Both are food trucks in one plaza 🚚✨. Portland’s food truck culture is no joke—there’s even a Netflix episode about it! The jianbing (savory crepe) was authentic with crispy inside and sweet sauce. Tokyo sando was also worth trying. 🍟 Tanaka – Come here for Japanese sandos! Freshly made and served warm 🥪🔥. Their fries are perfectly crispy, too. 🍚 Nong’s Khao Man Gai – A Thai spot specializing in Hainanese chicken rice & braised pork rice 🍗🍚. Street-style vibes! The chicken sauce is amazing✨. Pork rice is soaked in broth—rich but a bit greasy. Perfect after a workout 🏃‍♀️💦! Western Food: 🧈 Le Chon – Solid across the board! A place I’d revisit 🤩. Happy hour offers great deals—perfect for trying more dishes. Their drinks are lovely, too 🍹~ 🥘 City Grill – Rooftop restaurant atop Portland’s tallest building 🌆👀. Great night views, and the food holds up! Their Korean-style jambalaya was a fun surprise. Steak was just okay, but cocktails were nice 🥂. You can walk in and ask for window seating at the bar. 🍳 Broder Cafe – Swedish brunch spot! Their “Lost Eggs” veggie dish was delicious 🥚🍅. Danish pancake? Basically a spherical donut 🍩—tasty but very sweet and filling.
