🇺🇸 Salt Lake City Restaurant Red🔴 & Black⚫️ List — Ski Tourist Edit

Spent 11 days in SLC and tried almost every recommended restaurant. Here’s a round-up! 📍 KFC 🌟🌟🌟 ~$20 pp Surprise — the world’s first Kentucky Fried Chicken is in Salt Lake City! Tastes better than Canada’s KFC — familiar flavors, but worth a visit for the Colonel’s statue out front. 📍 Afghan Kitchen - Main Street 🌟🌟🌟🌟 ~$30+ pp An Afghan restaurant — not too heavy, perfect for diverse tastes. The lamb shank rice (maybe Kabuli or Shinwari) was so tender and fragrant — rice was like pilaf, amazing! ⭐ Extra star for this! Most dishes are carb-heavy. The dashi skillet was more like a stew, firni dessert was more custard-like than pudding, and beef dumplings were unique with lots of sauces. 📍 Seafood Bucket Cajun Style 🌟🌟🌟 ~$30+ pp Chinese-owned Cajun boil spot. Got the combo with king crab legs — seasoning was good, but mussels weren’t fully cleaned (weird grassy bits inside). Shrimp and sausages were tasty. 📍 KOU Korean BBQ 🌟🌟🌟🌟 ~$50 pp Go early to avoid lines! Meat-focused, few veggies. Servers were a bit cold. But the steak was excellent — high quality and flavorful! Beef tongue and marinated short ribs were also must-tries❗ Fatty beef was great, shrimp was fresh (despite rumors). Skip the lemonade — way too sweet. Late visits might get free leftover bakery items! 📍 Long Men Zhen 🌟🌟🌟 ~$40 pp Popular — get there early! While waiting, check out the Asian market next door. They offer BBQ and hot pot — we did hot pot (individual pots). Meat is ordered from servers, everything else is self-serve. Service was rude (minus a star), but the braised chicken feet saved the day — so good after a quick boil! Hot bar crawfish was meh. 📍 BEIJING 🌟 ~$35 pp …Disappointing and not good. A weird sweet fusion of “Beijing” and “Sichuan.” Only the braised pork was decent. Mao Xue Wang had tough, bland blood cubes; spicy chicken tasted like popcorn chicken; twice-cooked pork was passable. Both dine-in and takeout had waits — not worth it. #SaltLakeCity #Food #SLCFood #SLC #FoodDiary #Skiing #Travel 🎿
