I spent two days in Baltimore – a city known for its challenges, but this museum absolutely blew me away: American Visionary Art Museum (AVAM) – dedicated to self-taught artists! It’s playful, experimental, and wildly creative. 🎫 Tickets: $16/person 🕙 Hours: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Closed Mon & Tue) 📍 Address: 800 Key Hwy, Baltimore, MD 21230 Don’t let the ticket price scare you – it includes access to two buildings! 🏛️ Main Building: Covered in shimmering glass mosaics ✨ – this is where you buy tickets. The exhibits (spanning 3 floors) focus on works by self-taught artists, often touching on African American stories. Vibrant, bold, and deeply expressive 🎭. 🛍️ Gift Shop (on the first floor): So fun! Full of quirky, whimsical souvenirs – way more interesting than typical museum shops 🛒. 🚶‍♀️ Second Building (to the right after exiting): This is where the magic happens! Mind-bending installation art 🌀 Interactive exhibits (you can crank, spin, and play with them!) A bathtub filled with pasta 🛁🍝 – yes, really! Two giant assembled cars 🚗🔧 – part of Baltimore’s annual kinetic sculpture race (where people build wild bikes and vehicles from recycled materials and race them downtown!).
