Day 5️⃣: Austin (1.5h drive from San Antonio) 📘 The University of Texas at Austin Recommended: UT Tower & Blanton Museum of Art 🎨 🏛️ Texas State Capitol Must-see: Dome, legislative chambers, historical statues. Free maps available inside. Join a free guided tour (check official website). 🔫 The Range at Austin Indoor shooting range with a wide selection of firearms. We tried one pistol and two rifles. ID (driver’s license or passport) required for rental. Staff provide full safety and usage instructions. Price included in photo. 🏞️ McKinney Falls State Park State park perfect for hiking, picnics, and waterfall views. $6 per person. Recommend the Homestead Trail (~1.5 hours). 🌄 Mount Bonnell Short climb with panoramic views of Austin and the Colorado River. Best at sunset! 🥩 Food Highlight Famous Texas BBQ joints: Terry Black’s, Franklin Barbecue. We tried The Salt Lick (all-you-can-eat, a bit far but highly recommended!). Day 6️⃣: Fort Worth (3h drive from Austin) 🧲 Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth Designed by Tadao Ando. Focuses on post-1945 modern and contemporary art—paintings, sculptures, photography, video, and more. 🎟️ Free on Fridays, half-price on Sundays, $10 for students on other days. 🔋 Kimbell Art Museum A free museum next door—absolutely worth a visit! 🐄 Fort Worth Stockyards (Must-visit!) Twice-daily longhorn cattle drives—real cowboys herding cattle down the street! 🐂 Showtimes: 11:30 AM & 4:00 PM (arrive 15 mins early). We caught the St. Patrick’s Day parade—so festive! 🍀 Lots of shops at Stockyards Station. Rodeo shows every Saturday at 7:30 PM. 🅿️ Park a bit farther to avoid crowds. Day 7️⃣: Dallas 🎞️ Dealey Plaza / The Sixth Floor Museum Site of JFK’s assassination. The museum covers JFK’s life, the shooting, conspiracy theories, documentaries, and artifacts. “X” marks on the road show where bullets struck. 🖼️ Dallas Museum of Art Free general admission (special exhibits may charge). Start from the top floor and work down.
