🇺🇸 Travel Diary / "The Most Dangerous City

To attend a conference in Mississippi, I flew into Memphis first to rent a car 🚗. I arrived a day early and decided to explore the city a bit. I’ve always heard that Memphis has the highest crime rate in the U.S.—and I’ll be honest, I was pretty nervous. Almost everyone I encountered (except those at the university) was Black, but honestly, everyone was really kind. The guy at the rental car counter was especially friendly, greeting me warmly and saying goodbye with a smile. They gave me a compact Corolla—basic but perfect for getting around. My first stop was the famous Bass Pro Shop inside what’s said to be the largest pyramid in the U.S. 🏰🎣 We have these in Florida too, but this one is next level—it’s an outdoor lover’s and angler’s paradise! The building is massive and awe-inspiring from the outside. Inside, it feels more like a museum than a store: decorated with ponds filled with huge koi fish 🐟, multiple aquatic species, and even two live alligators! 🐊 The product range is impressive. I spotted a really cool cooler, but it was way out of my budget 😅. Lots of fun stuff to see though, and the prices seemed fair. #StudyInUS #InternationalStudents #SoloTravel #TravelUSA #Memphis #SolofemaleTravel #USATravel #AmericanSouth #TravelDiaries
