🎷 12/14 One Day in Memphis
We started from the outskirts and made our way downtown—from Stax to the Civil Rights Museum, tried the famous local Gus’s Fried Chicken 🍗, wandered through a rainy Beale Street ☔️, and ended the day at the iconic glass pyramid for fishing enthusiasts 🎣. The next morning, we visited Mud Island River Park 🌊, checked out the Memphis landmark, and enjoyed a bakery close to Chinese tastes—Sweet Musings Bakery & Cafe 🥐. So delicious! 🎷 Stax Museum of American Soul Music Normally $18 per person, but we got in for free thanks to Family Day! 🎉 We even caught a children’s choir performance and a live band 🎤. The museum dives deep into the blues, R&B, and rock & roll that developed right here in Memphis. A must-visit for music lovers! ✊🏾 National Civil Rights Museum Built around the motel where Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated, this powerful museum costs $20 per person and offers over two hours of meaningful content. It vividly traces the journey of Black Americans from being treated as second-class citizens to fighting for and gaining greater equality. It’s striking to realize many of these events happened just 60–70 years ago—within the lifetimes of their grandparents. Truly moving. #Memphis #TravelUSA #SoulMusic #CivilRights #BBQ #SouthernTravel #USATourism #RoadTrip
