2-Day Canberra Itinerary|Capturing Travel Memories ✨

Day 1 9:00 AM – Departed Sydney for Canberra via Murrays Coach 🚌 12:30 PM – Arrived at Canberra Coach Terminal. Ate snacks on the way, so we weren’t hungry after getting off. Headed straight to Meriton Suites (40 Allara St). 12:58 PM – 2:15 PM Visited the Australian War Memorial 🇦🇺 2:25 PM – 4:45 PM Explored the National Gallery of Australia 🖼️ Aside from Monet’s Water Lilies and the Within Without installation, as someone without much artistic sense, I mostly enjoyed the "vibes" 😅 Took a short 200m walk to Lake Burley Griffin – peaceful and calm, but nothing too extraordinary. Returned to the Within Without installation outside the gallery – the mirrors + 3D aesthetics were truly photogenic! 📸 Day 2 Woke up early, checked out at 8:30 AM, and stored luggage at the hotel. Had breakfast at McDonald’s 🍟 9:18 AM – Took an Uber to the Royal Australian Mint 💰 9:30 AM – 10:20 AM The gift shop was fun! Made six 60th-anniversary commemorative coins ($3 for one). Also bought an authentic Penny coin minted before the establishment of the Mint (got one from 1951!). Definitely worth revisiting! 10:29 AM – 11:20 AM Took an Uber to the New Parliament House 🏛️ Explored the parliamentary chambers and saw oil paintings of Australian leaders. 11:40 AM – 12:40 PM Walked 20 mins to the Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House 🗳️ This was the highlight! All rooms preserved in their original state, with historical audio recordings – felt like travelling back in time! Allow at least 1–1.5 hours here. Staff were super friendly too! 12:40 PM Returned to Canberra Centre for shopping, lunch, and a rest 🛍️🍜 2:30 PM Picked up luggage from the hotel, charged phones, and grabbed snacks. 3:30 PM – Headed to the coach station for the return trip to Sydney. Personal Thoughts: Canberra feels spacious but has limited shade – easy to get sunburned! ☀️ Uber is surprisingly affordable – recommend taking taxis between attractions. Meriton Suites is near Li Nong Restaurant – great for Chinese food cravings! 🥢 Tried OMI Japanese (not as good as Sydney’s) and Thai restaurant Kinn (decent but not exceptional). #LifeInAustralia #Travel #Canberra #TravelDiary
