2024 Christmas Vacation | Oyster Hunt from Atlanta 🦪! Part 2
Our 2024 Christmas "oyster road trip" continues! Leaving Atlanta, we passed through Panama City Beach, Pensacola, and finally arrived in Mobile, Alabama. Along the way, we indulged in seafood and chased sunsets, even making up for the regret of cloudy days earlier. The next stop is still ahead—let’s first share the joy of Mobile with you! 1. Mobile, AL | R and R Seafood: Double Delight of Crawfish & Oysters, Surprise Gator Taco 🦞 Our first meal in Mobile was at R and R Seafood, and the crawfish and oysters on the menu immediately caught our eye. We were shocked by the portion size as soon as the food arrived— Crawfish: A must-order! Every piece was so fresh you could taste the sea. The shell peeled off easily without any effort, and the meat was tender and springy, with no unpleasant earthy taste. Every table around us had a large plate, and it was clearly a "table staple." We peeled and ate them together, finishing a plate in no time~ Oysters: We ordered two styles—raw and Bienville—and neither disappointed! The raw oysters were sweet and refreshing, perfect with a squeeze of lemon; the Bienville oysters were coated in cheese sauce but not greasy at all. The cheese flavor blended perfectly with the freshness of the oyster meat, even friends who usually dislike greasiness praised them~ 😬😬😬 Gator Taco: We ordered it out of "curiosity," but it was surprisingly amazing! We chose grilled alligator meat, which was firm yet tender. The taco was filled with pineapple salsa and a secret sauce, balancing sweetness and tanginess. Every bite had rich layers, with no weird aftertaste~😑😑😑 Side: Hush Puppies: My favorite! Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, with a strong corn aroma when you bite into it. It’s even better with ketchup—perfect as a snack, and we finished a basket before we knew it~😬😬😬 ❌ Warning: Skip the Grilled Mahi Mahi—it’s dry and tough, hard to chew. The Gumbo is also not recommended; the flavor is okay but extremely salty. Luckily, we only ordered the smallest bowl and barely finished it with bread. 2. Dauphin Island, AL | West End Public Beach: The Long-Awaited Sunset Finally Arrived 🌇 The previous few days were either cloudy or rainy, and we even lost the mood to watch the sunset. But when we arrived at Dauphin Island, the southernmost point of Alabama, the weather suddenly cleared up! We headed straight to West End Public Beach and just caught the sun sinking slowly toward the horizon—😬😬😬 The beach is covered with fine white sand that feels soft underfoot, and the sea is a pure turquoise color. The sky in the distance turned from light orange to deep pink, and finally to a gentle purple. Watching the sunset disappear little by little over the sea, with the sea breeze blowing softly, all the tiredness from the journey vanished. We quickly took many Live photos, each frame like a movie scene~😬😬😬 This beach is really comfortable, not too crowded. You can sit anywhere and daydream for a long time. If we had more time, we would have stayed to watch the stars! 3. Mobile, AL | Wintzell's Oyster House: Tried All Oyster Styles, But Fried Oysters Failed 🍳 There are many Wintzell's Oyster House chain stores in Mobile (3 just in the local area). We went there hoping to "try one more oyster style," but the experience was mixed— ✅ Recommend: Oyster Stew! It’s like oyster meat cooked in cream soup. The soup is rich and smooth, full of milky aroma. One sip warms you up to your stomach. Although the oyster meat itself is nothing special, the soup is really delicious, especially perfect for cold days~😬😬😬 #USA #RoadTrip #Oysters #Crawfish #Florida #Alabama #Beaches #Foodie
