2024.07.18 Tegucigalpa, Honduras

I originally didn't plan to visit this city, not mainly because of danger, but simply because I thought it would be boring... My initial plan was to start from San Salvador and take a day trip to the Copan Mayan ruins to unlock Honduras 🇭🇳, but two days before departure, I realized that this route must pass through Guatemala 🇬🇹, and my Guatemala visa is a single-entry. With my subsequent itinerary quite tight and flights from Managua to Guatemala City already booked, I had no choice but to give up Copan and come to Tegucigalpa to check it off the list... ❗️I hope everyone can avoid this pitfall! This is actually a city that has been somewhat demonized, with various publicity claiming how dangerous it is, but that's a bit of an exaggeration. With San Salvador as a precedent, Central American countries have been cracking down on and improving security in recent years, and it seems to have been quite effective. (Although it's still not very safe, at least there are no major issues in the city during the day)🧀 However, while the danger has been exaggerated, the boredom has not. This is a very typical Latin American city, with Jesus, churches, Spanish colonial-style old towns, volcanoes, and rainforests—everything Latin America has, it has, and everything Latin America doesn't, it doesn't... Very typical and ordinary.🌜 P2-4: Iglesia Santa María de los Dolores Church, arguably the most exquisite building in the old town, with countless pigeons landing on the church and the square in front, making for great photos.🌈 St. Michael the Archangel Cathedral, the main church, but rather unremarkable. Street views of Tegucigalpa. P14: Tegucigalpa CBD. P15-16: The statue of Jesus on the mountaintop and the view of Tegucigalpa from this perspective. Personal suggestion: For Honduras tourism, it's better to go to Copan and Roatan.🌈✨ #Honduras #LatinAmerica #CentralAmerica #America #TravelDiary #Tourism #Travel #AroundTheWorld #GlobalTravel #BeautifulSceneryOnTheJourney
