🍯 4 Michelin “Pretty Meals” in LA

A slightly picky little girl who loves beautiful food shares thoughts on four recent Michelin experiences — ranked by preference! 🌟🌟 Melisse My favorite! The restaurant feels like a cozy little room with an open kitchen — like watching a “show.” Every course was delicious, with creative sauces and ingredient combos that actually work. The appetizers lived up to the hype — both gorgeous and tasty. The A5 Wagyu was the absolute best! Service was also wonderful — staff checked in often and chatted warmly. The whole experience felt thoughtful: food, service, ambiance… even the background music was perfectly curated! 💰 Per person: $500+ 🌟🌟 Hayato I don’t usually love kaiseki, but hey — it ranks here because the next two were just not it 😅 Took about half a year to get a reservation, so expectations were sky-high… maybe a bit too high. The portions were generous, and surprisingly, the rice was the star — so soft, sticky, and fragrant! 💰 Per person: $450+ 🌟 Sushi Kaneyoshi I’m usually very forgiving with omakase, but this one was… meh. Not sure if that was shirako (bottom left in P4) but it looked and tasted unappetizing. The sushi rice didn’t work for me — only the toro kept me going. My chawanmushi had way too much ginger — overpowering! Even the entrance wasn’t great — the outdoor stairs smelled weird. Service was kind though — they escorted us to the street at night, which felt safe and thoughtful. 💰 Per person: $370+ 🌟 Maude Emm… this one really wasn’t good. Flavors swung between sour and bland. From start to finish, not a single course impressed me — some even had off smells. Pretty to look at, that’s about it. The dessert in a separate wine cellar was a cool concept, but it was chilly — bring a jacket even with the blanket they provide! 💰 Per person: $270+ 🫨 That’s it! Prices include tax and tip — no alcohol added. All opinions are personal! Hoping LA’s Michelin scene steps up its game — nothing quite blew me away yet. #LosAngeles #HiddenGemEats #Michelin #LAMichelin #Omakase #WesternCuisine
