A Cozy Japanese Spot in Alamo Heights β Perfect for a Quiet Chat
This lunchtime, a colleague took us to Osaka Japanese Steak & Sushi, located in the Alamo Heights area π£π‘. Itβs a bit further from downtown, but as those familiar with SA know β Alamo Heights is one of the pricier zip codes around, filled with charming old houses and lovely streets to wander. We arrived on a weekday around noon β the restaurant was quiet, with even the teppanyaki section empty π. The cushioned booths along the wall were comfy and perfect for a relaxed meal and light conversation. π©βπ³ Service was prompt and friendly β we barely waited. It was my first time, but my colleagues already knew the menu well. One swears by their ramen π, while another thinks itβs βterribleβ π. Fueled by curiosity, I decided to try it myself β letβs see what the fuss is about! π©π»ββοΈ π Spicy Chicken & Chashu Ramen β Verdict: Not great π₯². The egg was overcooked, the broth and veggies had a strong onion flavor (not the good kind), and the noodles were just average. π©βπ³ My colleague always orders the Teppan-grilled steak + Cucumber Cream Cheese Sushi π₯©π₯ β she says itβs consistently good. The fried rice also looked tasty and freshly made. π± Chicken Katsu Bento Box β This I liked! It came with: β’ Miso soup (decent) β’ Chicken katsu β crispy outside, juicy inside (portion could be bigger) β’ 2 gyoza + 4 California rolls + side salad + steamed rice Everything was well-prepared, and each item tasted good β . Next time Iβll try upgrading the rice to fried rice! Definitely would order this bento again. π₯€ After lunch, we grabbed a carbonated drink from Swig nearby (guava-orange flavor) β refreshing and not too sweet. Itβs become quite popular among our coworkers lately. Just a 2-minute drive from the restaurant β worth trying if you havenβt! π Osaka Japanese Steak & Sushi 4902 Broadway St, San Antonio, TX 78209 #SanAntonioJapaneseFood #SanAntonioEats #SanAntonioFood #IzakayaVibes #Texas #SanAntonio
