🍷 A Cozy Tapas-Style Gem! πŸŽ‰

My husband and I had a wonderful birthday dinner at Wolf in the Woods – they even surprised me with a signed birthday card! Such a sweet personal touch. πŸ₯³πŸ’Œ Tucked away in a quiet neighborhood in Mission Hills, this intimate spot was named San Diego’s Restaurant of the Year 2024! I highly recommend making a reservation in advance. It might not be ideal for large groups – the largest I saw was a party of 6, and that likely required early booking. The outdoor seating looked lovely under the string lights, and the inside was bustling and full of energy. We were lucky to snag one of the two two-tops in the back, as the main dining area can get pretty lively! ✨🏑 Parking & Service: There’s limited parking in front, but we found plenty of street parking on a Friday at 8:00 PM. πŸ…ΏοΈ Our server was outstanding – attentive and made us feel well taken care of all evening. πŸ‘πŸΎ Food Highlights: We ordered 5 tapas-style plates, which felt just right for two (though we wished we could try more!). Everything was based on our server’s recommendations: Sweet Corn & Pine Nut Soup ($16) – a must-order! Sweet, silky, with Hatch chili crisps for crunch. 🌽πŸ”₯ Harissa Octopus ($22) – tender and flavorful, served in a generous portion with a beautiful harissa swirl. πŸ™πŸŽ¨ Grilled Premium Beef Tataki ($34) – five slices of high-quality beef topped with yuzu flying fish roe and garlic crisps. πŸ₯©πŸ’« Corn & Chicken Fat Polenta ($22) – rich and creamy with mascarpone. We were so full we had to take most of it home! 🌽🍯 Smoked French Trout Roe ($37) – not originally recommended, but ended up being my favorite! Served with 6–7 slices of toasted brioche. A savory, smoky delight! 🍞🐟 Crab-Stuffed Piquillo Peppers ($21) – a signature dish! Three peppers filled with mascarpone and crab – absolutely delicious! πŸŒΆοΈπŸ¦€ Overall: We loved every dish and can’t wait to return to try the rest of the menu! Highly recommended for a romantic night or special celebration. πŸ’–πŸŽŠ #WolfInTheWoods #TapasStyle #SanDiegoEats #RestaurantOfTheYear #DateNight #FoodieHeaven #MissionHills #MustTryTapas
