A Day in Fort Worth + Dallas

šŸ„‚Today, I visited the Fort Worth Stockyards with a childhood friend I hadn’t seen in 10 years. We arrived at 10:30 am and had no trouble finding street parking. We chatted with a cowboy and then the cattle drive began. Seeing dozens of wild cattle with 2.4-meter-long horns was exhilarating! ā€¼ļøAfter watching the cattle drive, we visited a few trading posts. I bought a $10 raccoon hat, which instantly made me feel like Guo Jing from the Chinese classic. It was definitely a better purchase than anything from Tyler, The Creator. šŸ™For lunch, we enjoyed Velvet Taco, where I had to try one each of chicken, pork, and beef tacos. In the afternoon, we headed to the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. I didn’t expect much, but it turned out to be a delightful surprise—my favorite artists, Richter and Anselm Kiefer, both had works on display, and some of them weren’t even included in the art books I own. I was thrilled! At 4 pm, we ended up at the Manhattan Project Brewery, which I’ve had my eye on for a while. Beer and fried chicken are just the best! šŸŽšŸŗ I highly recommend their sour beers. Having been spoiled by West Coast IPAs in California for so long, it’s been a while since I’ve had a good gose or framboise. Today, my beer dreams came true. For dinner, we went to Saltgrass, a local chain restaurant. I ordered a bone-in ribeye and some heavily seasoned baked potatoes. Yum yum! It was a satisfying day overall. #MyTravelDiary #CowboyTown #Dallas #DallasFood
