A Day in New Mexico
Because of a TV show, I traveled to a city—probably not many people are as crazy as me 😅. From Nanjing to Los Angeles, then to Albuquerque (ABQ), just to trace the remnants of Breaking Bad. At noon, I flew from LA to ABQ. Outside the window, the view shifted from the blue California coast to the dusty U.S.-Mexico border. After landing, I picked up my rental car and started my road trip. First stop: Santa Fe 🌵 On the way from ABQ to Santa Fe, I passed by a motel and realized it was the infamous location from Breaking Bad—a place of crime in the show. I made a U-turn to check it out. The motel was completely empty except for our car—just as desolate and remote as in the series. The only difference? In reality, it’s surrounded by upscale homes with neatly trimmed gardens on the hillside. ABQ is so surreal! 🤯 Along the road, I saw countless legal consultation billboards—art truly imitates life. Very "Better Call Saul" ⚖️. And… The ever-present New Mexico state flag kept reminding me: I’ve really arrived in this land. 🇺🇸🌶️ During the drive, I encountered a sandstorm and 80 mph winds. My phone buzzed with a National Weather Service alert: 🚨 "Pull aside, stay alive!" 🚨 A sudden crosswind hit the highway, making even a Jeep Wrangler drift. Meanwhile, tumbleweeds rolled like balls across the hills before getting stuck at the fences. 🌪️ After safely arriving in Santa Fe, I was starving and hunted for a restaurant. How can you visit New Mexico without trying Mexican food? 🌮 I ordered spicy menudo and pork belly tacos. The delicious meal was the perfect reward after the journey. ¡Qué rico! 😋🔥 After dinner, I wandered into a supermarket and found Los Pollos Hermanos-branded tequila—the fictional brand from Breaking Bad. As a die-hard fan, I had to grab it! 🥃 Bottle No. 2898—I like it, such a lucky number. 🍀 On the way back to the hotel, I looked up at the sky—it was that magical blue hour I love. I knew I’d come to the right place. Because that’s just the kind of person I am. 💙 #BreakingBad #Albuquerque #SantaFe #USRoadTrip
