A Day Trip to Anacapa Island near Los Angeles 🌊
Anacapa Island in Channel Islands National Park is the most beautiful, smallest, and closest island to us. It offers different scenery throughout the year. In spring, wildflowers cover the island, and thousands of birds nest and lay eggs. Summer is perfect for diving and kayaking, while autumn brings a desolate beauty as the greenery fades. 🌼🌊 In April, the island is bustling with activity. Birds are busy either finding mates or incubating eggs, and the hills are covered with wildflowers, making it a lively scene. By May, you should be able to see many baby birds, which is something to look forward to. 🐦🌼 Ventura Harbor only has boat tickets available one or two days a week, so book in advance. We departed from Ventura at 9:30 AM and returned at 3:30 PM, which gave us plenty of time. Oxnard Harbor has more boats, and you can also start your journey from there. 🚢 The island is small, and you can explore all the trails in just two hours. Take your time to wander around. There is no water or trash bins on the island, so bring your own food and take your trash with you. On the way, you will see lots of dolphins and several whales, including a mother whale with her calf. 🐬 Here are some spots worth stopping at: ⭐️ Landing Cove : This is where you disembark. You need to climb stairs to get to the island. There is a beautiful arch rock here, and the captain will stop here for photo opportunities when you leave. The Kelp Forest is also located here, which is a great spot for snorkeling. 🏄♂️ ⭐️ Inspiration Point : Easily accessible by following the signs, this place offers stunning views that will take your breath away. 🌄 ⭐️ Pinniped Point : From here, you can see a large number of sea lions and elephant seals. 🦍 ⭐️ Lighthouse : It was closed when we visited, but you can still take beautiful photos up close. 🏬 Note: Many birds are nesting on the island, so please walk around them and avoid disturbing them. Take photos from a distance by adjusting your zoom. 📸 #LosAngelesLife #LosAngelesWeekend #LosAngelesTravel #ChannelIslands
