A Delicious Thai-Japanese Fusion Surprise! 🍜✨

Two of my favorite LA restaurants—Holy Basil and Tsubaki—teamed up for a special Tuesday pop-up, and I was super excited to try their creative Thai-Japanese fusion dishes with friends! The menu featured 8 courses, each presented in two styles. For example, the fish course came both as a sweet-and-sour Thai-style fried fish and a delicate Japanese steamed fish—letting you experience both cuisines in one dish. Such a clever and fun idea! 🐟🌿 The standout for me was the final dessert: Thai tea soft serve with crispy fried walnuts—a perfect balance of sweet and salty. Absolutely loved it! 🍦❤️ The only downside? The pop-up was just for one night, and the portions were a bit small. But I highly recommend visiting each of their restaurants separately! Tsubaki is a French-inspired izakaya with a Japanese soul, and Holy Basil offers modern, flavorful Thai cuisine. Both are totally worth a visit! 🏮🍴 #FusionCuisine #LALife #JapaneseFood #ThaiFood #LAEats #Foodie #PopUpDining #CreativeDining #HiddenGems #MustTry
