A Gentle Journey of Flavors | Kinme Omakase in San Diego 🍶
Dinner tonight was at Kinme, a small omakase spot tucked away in San Diego. There’s no flashy performance or extravagant decor, yet every dish moved at a steady, comfortable pace from start to finish. 👨🍳 The chef spoke little, but you could feel his careful attention—the temperature of the fish, the acidity of the sauces, everything was just right. ✨ Starter: Oyster with Persimmon Soy Sauce Right from the first bite, it was a delight! The oyster’s oceanic freshness was softened by a touch of sweet persimmon soy sauce—clean, bright, and delicious. 🦪❤️ What a pleasant surprise to begin with! ✨ Sashimi Course: Five Kinds of Fish Starting with medium-fatty tuna and moving clockwise: otoro, yellowtail, sea bream, and shiny mackerel. Each slice was thin yet substantial, rich but not greasy, with a delicate balance of acidity. 🐟💫 You could taste both the fish and the chef’s thoughtful preparation. ✨ Seasonal Plate: Matsutake Chawanmushi A beautiful expression of the season! The earthy aroma of matsutake mushrooms mingled with a hint of yuzu zest, and the steamed egg was so tender it melted with one gentle scoop. 🍄🍲 It was like tasting autumn itself. 🍵 At the end, the chef personally prepared matcha for us. Using Myoju matcha from Kyoto, the tea was rich and smooth—a bold but soothing bitterness that carried a sweet aftertaste… For a moment, it felt like a morning in Kyoto. 🍃👘 From beginning to end, the meal was quiet yet complete—a dining experience built on subtlety and care. No loud jokes or trendy gimmicks, just delicate, balanced flavors that leave you fully satisfied. If you appreciate understated details in food, Kinme is worth the visit. ✍️🌸 #KinmeOmakase #SanDiegoSushi #OmakaseExperience #MatchaMoment #SeasonalCuisine #FoodJournal #SubtleFlavors
