A Healing Journey in Cape Town
🚗 Car Rental It was already past ten in the evening when I landed. The first thing to do, of course, was to pick up the car. It was super convenient to book in advance through a domestic car rental platform. One important thing to note⚠️: for renting a car in South Africa, you just need to bring your original driver's license + an international translation. This is a country where they drive on the left side of the road, and the driver's seat is on the right! After smoothly collecting the car, I headed straight to the Airbnb I booked at CampusBay. 🏠 Travel I arrived at the Airbnb quite late the night before. After freshening up, I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow. The next morning, I woke up and went out to look for food. I was shocked when I turned the corner - the place where I was staying was so close to CampusBay Beach! The moment I saw the ocean for the first time, I was truly astonished! I've seen the sea quite a few times in Shenzhen, but the blue of this sea is completely different! It's as if a filter has been added. In the distance, it's an extremely deep ultramarine, and as it gets closer to the shore, it gradually changes to a transparent emerald green. The waves crash onto the beach, creating white foam. Standing there, I could even see the slight curvature of the horizon! Encountering this breathtaking scenery, I suddenly thought of the saying: "Life is a wilderness, not a track." I spent the morning just standing by the sea, feeling healed. At noon, I got in the car and headed to the Cape of Good Hope, stopping along the way to see penguins🐧and seals🦭. That day, we just watched an old man feeding the seals at the dock. The next day, I saw plenty of seals at the city's dock. The smell was really something. In comparison, the penguins that wag their tails are just too cute. Continuing our journey, the scenery along the coastal road kept surprising us. On one side was the ocean, and on the other side was a very atmospheric city. There were no skyscrapers, and the population was sparse, giving a rare sense of tranquility. It would have been even better if the wind had been lighter😂. Entering the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, we saw vast expanses of low shrubs along the way and even encountered ostriches that were busy eating!🐦 There were many hiking signs, but as a lazy person, I decided to drive all the way to the end. When I got to the viewpoint, I was once again stunned!! In the distance, there were dark clouds over the sea☁️, but the shore was very sunny. There were even seals on the rocks. The small hill next to it was only 100 meters high, but when I climbed to the top, it felt like I had reached the "end of the world"!🌍 As the sun set, I headed back. The orange sky framed the lighthouse with a golden edge, and the night view of the mountain, sea, and city was so beautiful it could be used as a phone wallpaper.📸 After returning to CampusBay for dinner, the first day's itinerary came to a perfect ending. 🏠 Accommodation Recommendation: I highly recommend CampusBay! It offers a great view of the Atlantic Ocean, the Twelve Apostles, and Table Mountain. The price range is very wide, so both budget travelers and those who want luxury can find something they like. ⚠️ Life-saving Safety Tips: Although Cape Town is considered a safer area in South Africa, the robbery rate is still much higher than in my country. One time, after having dinner and walking towards the parking lot, I accidentally took a secluded path. The whole time, I was looking around nervously and rushing, with my adrenaline pumping.😱 If someone on the street "helpfully" directs you to park, ignore them! Ignore them! Pretend you don't understand and just keep walking, or you might be asked for a tip in no time. In the next post, I'll introduce the second day of my trip in Cape Town. #SouthAfrica #SouthAfricaTravel #CapeTownTravelGuide #CampusBay #CapeofGoodHope #PenguinBeach #PostworkTravel
