A Hidden Gem: A Japanese-Style Neighborhood Café in London
🇯🇵 Neighbourhood Cafe Yukari I've had this place on my list for a while, and it was recommended to me by foodie Tianyi @Tianyi. Recently, I visited the annual orchid exhibition at Kew Gardens, which gave me the perfect excuse to cross London and try this Japanese-style neighborhood café near the subway station. As soon as I walked in, I felt the cozy and charming vibe of a Japanese café. It's simple and adorable, with musical elements everywhere. There's a grand piano inside, and the menu is written and posted on a cello-shaped chalkboard. 🥰 Even though I wasn't very hungry, I was drawn to so many dishes! - The tempura shrimp were crispy and not greasy at all, with firm and delicious meat. They were so good that I ordered another serving! - I first ordered the tempura shrimp soba noodles, and because the tempura shrimp were so tasty, I added a bowl of tempura shrimp udon noodles. I personally prefer the udon for its chewy texture. - The Japanese bento box gave me a moment of feeling like I was back in Japan. The grilled salmon with side dishes was not mind-blowing but had that delicious and healthy taste. The rice was really fragrant! - The codroe rice ball had more flavor than the beef rice ball. - The matcha was freshly sifted right in front of me. It was super rich and intense. - The walnut mochi is great for those who love the crunchy texture of nuts, though it's a bit sweet. SIDE STORY: The elderly cashier seemed a bit clumsy and accidentally knocked over the matcha box, spilling it on my white shoes. She kept apologizing profusely and ended up giving me a free rice ball. 🎶 The café closes at 6:00 pm on Sundays, after which a choir practice takes place. 🎈 Ahhhh, this kind of cute Japanese café is just so wonderful. It's perfect for sitting by the window, watching people pass by, daydreaming, enjoying afternoon tea, or having a light meal and chatting with friends. #LondonLife #CafeFood #GourmetCoffeeLifestyle #cafe #CozyCafe #CafeLife #TempuraShrimp #RomanticLifeRecorder #food #LondonFood
