A Hidden Gem Restaurant Recommendation in the Los Angeles Area 🌊🍋

This under-the-radar one-Michelin-star restaurant, Caruso’s, was recommended by a friend and is located within the Rosewood Miramar Beach hotel in Santa Barbara. It can be described as a seafood-Italian fusion restaurant, with ingredients sourced directly from local Santa Barbara fishermen’s catches and farmers' markets. 🎣🐟 Snapper, shrimp, uni, abalone, halibut, thorny head… you can truly taste the freshness of the Pacific Ocean in every bite! 🍽️ The added caviar is specially selected by the chef and imported directly from Italy. Personally, I found two of the Italian pasta dishes a bit heavy on the palate—one was overly salty, the other quite tangy. 😅 But the portions are seriously generous—we left stuffed! The tasting menu, especially, offers great value compared to many LA restaurants. If you’re staying at the hotel, be sure to have the concierge make the reservation—it’s fast, and you’ll likely get a great view! 🌅 A major plus is the reasonably priced wine list, particularly the Burgundy selection. 🍷 Seeing those prices gives you the urge to order—because not drinking feels like a loss! This time, we tried a Grands Échezeaux, but maybe because it was too young? It felt very closed—even after decanting, it didn’t open up much beyond an initial burst of aroma. There were also some tartrate crystals—not sure if it’s a barrel sediment or shipping issue. But the price was fair, so maybe next time I’ll bring friends and try again! Have you been to Caruso’s or a similar seaside fine-dining spot? What’s your favorite wine and seafood pairing?
