A Hidden Mountain Retreat Café / Stone Age Cafe

Nestled in the mountains at the Enoura Observatory in Odawara, designed by Hiroshi Sugimoto. 🌿☕️ 🌊This café uses transparent and simple materials as its main structure—stone and wood. 🌳 There are no excessive decorations, yet it feels incredibly substantial, much like the age of the rocks in its name. Overlooking the entire Sagami Bay, with the wind sweeping through, the distant horizon where the sea and sky blur together, just like in Sugimoto's photographs, makes me feel like time is either standing still or fast-forwarding in this moment. I feel incredibly calm. 🌊 🌊 There are only two drinks on the menu: mikan juice and coffee. The barista told me, "The mikan comes from that very tree right there." 🌿☕️ The coffee is brewed with spring water from the mountain.
