A Japanese-inspired space renting shelves for handmade goods, comics!

I've passed by this area so many times! 🚶‍♀️ But since I'm always in the neighborhood for a meal or grocery shopping, I never have enough time to properly explore the Mission District after finishing my errands. I finally made a special trip here recently! The hour just before sunset is absolutely gorgeous! 🌇 The nearby Grapevine Yard seemed to be hosting an event, with live music playing... the atmosphere was just incredible! It almost felt like being in Europe for a moment, haha. 🎶 That's when I spotted this unique storefront: Empty Shelf. It's a bookstore + handicraft + creative brand display space. And guess what? The shelves inside are available for rent! Oh my gosh, this reminds me of similar shops from my childhood! 🤩 It's a place where many people can rent a shelf to sell their own creations. It seems the minimum rental period is a few months, and the shop takes a small commission from sales. I think that's pretty fair, and the monthly rental prices are quite reasonable—even the largest shelf is under $100 a month. 💰 Because of this setup, browsing here feels like exploring a little marketplace, with so many unique items in different styles! Of course, there are tons of books and RECORDS!! 📚🎵 I found some super old Japanese manga, which was so cool and novel—probably someone decided to share their personal collection. Also, the prices for Japanese vinyl records here are incredibly cheap! There are many options for just $10-$20. 😲 Just think about the Japanese record prices in my neighborhood's Japantown, which can easily run from tens to over a hundred dollars... I can definitely see myself coming back here often to hunt for treasures! 🏼 Have you ever rented a shelf to sell your creations? Or what's your favorite treasure you've found in a little shop like this?
