A late-night food stall serving tripe sandwiches 🍔
When I first arrived in Florence, it was already after ten in the evening. At this hour, finding a proper restaurant with the kitchen still open is quite a challenge. As I was walking around, I stumbled upon a tripe sandwich stall near the train station. It wasn't a typical mobile food cart but a small brick-and-mortar kiosk located at a street corner, right across from a McDonald's. Panino con Lampredotto 😍😍😍 The classic tripe sandwich for 5€ is substantial, comparable to a Burger King meal. The bread has a chewy crust, which some might find a bit tough, but the porous interior softens after being soaked in the tripe's juices. The seasoning on the tripe was, in my opinion, ❤️❤️❤️a bit light, allowing the natural flavor of the tripe to shine through. It was spiced with a mix of red and green chili, which effectively masked any offal taste. The tripe was tender and succulent, melting in the mouth and providing a nice contrast to the chewy outer layer of the bread. I initially worried that a sandwich might not be filling, but the portion size was surprisingly generous and very satisfying. Lampredotto in Vaschetta 😻😻😻 The boxed tripe for 6€ comes with slices of the same bread used in the sandwich, served separately on the side. Without the bread to soak up the juices, the tripe in the box appears more oily. The tripe on its own can taste a bit salty, but it pairs well with a small piece of bread. The sliced bread allows for a more tender and easier-to-chew experience, with each bite reaching the soft inner part of the bread.
