🏰 A Lesser-Known Getaway Near New York | Albany, the State Capital
We visited Albany, the capital of New York State, said to be the second oldest city in the eastern United States. 🌿 The downtown area is incredibly compact—so small that you can drive through it in just over ten minutes. With few people on the streets, it’s a city best explored on foot. At one end of State Street stands the majestic castle-like building of the State University of New York, while the other end leads to the State Capitol. Walking past the Capitol, you’ll encounter a stretch of modernist structures lined up before your eyes, transforming the city into a blend of classical charm and futuristic design—like a modernist sci-fi film set. Notable landmarks include The Egg and the State Museum. 🎶 Albany turned out to be a hidden gem we stumbled upon—a lesser-known destination perfect for a day trip from New York. Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🍽 For dinner, we headed to a Chinese restaurant about a ten-minute drive from downtown. The restaurant is called Ala Shanghai. #Albany#Albanylife#Albanyguiide#Albanytravel#NewYork#AlbanyNewYork#travelguide#Albanydiary
