A Little Sharing About Ragusa and Syracuse
Ragusa Part 1️⃣ Three Similar Towns Agrigento → Ragusa/Noto/Modica: These three Baroque towns are about 1.5 hours apart. We originally planned to visit Ragusa & Noto, but due to time constraints, only made it to Ragusa. 🌸 Ragusa Flower Festival: Held on the 3rd weekend of May—we missed it by just a few days! 2️⃣ Parking & ZTL (Traffic Restricted Zone) You can drive up to the hilltop church, but watch out for ZTL zones (our car was too big, so we parked outside the town). Parking Tips: Look for paid lots near the entrance (with ticket machines). Price: ~€0.25 per 15 mins (we prepaid 2 hours but still got a warning ticket for overstaying by 20 mins 😅). How to Fix: Scan the ticket QR code and pay the difference—no fine if corrected promptly! 3️⃣ Exploring Ragusa Ibla Vibe: Quiet on weekdays, pleasant for a coffee in the central square. Hilltop Church: A steep climb (stairs + slopes), but the view is worth it (takes ~15-20 mins). Time Needed: 3 hours max (including a meal). Syracuse (Siracusa) Part 1️⃣ Why Visit? Film Buffs’ Dream: Famous for movies like Malèna. Archimedes’ Hometown—but even without history, it’s worth the trip! 2️⃣ Ortigia Island (Parking Tips) Connected to the mainland by bridges. Parking: Look for blue "P" signs near bridges—€2/hour. Pro Tip: The closer to Old Town, the harder to find spots! 3️⃣ Must-Do in Ortigia Route: Start at Piazza del Duomo → walk to the seafront (unreal turquoise water!). Swim? Yes, but watch for strong currents. 4️⃣ Avoid Crowds Tourist Waves: Arrive before noon—after that, tour buses flood the Duomo area. Photo Tip: Early morning = empty, cinematic shots! #Sicily #Ragusa #Syracuse #ItalyTravel #ZTLWarning
