A NC Intern’s Food Guide to Winston-Salem
As an intern in North Carolina, my favorite weekend activity is exploring Winston-Salem and Greensboro with a food guide in hand, hunting for tasty spots hidden in the streets and lanes. This time, I unlocked 4 restaurants with totally different styles—from convenient airport meals to authentic Korean BBQ—each with a memorable highlight. I quickly organized them to share with fellow food lovers! ✨ 1. ACC American Cafe (Exclusive to GSO Airport! Grab a Warm Meal Even When Rushing for a Flight ✈️) If you’re departing from or arriving at Greensboro Airport (GSO), don’t miss this café inside the airport! ☕ It specializes in American-style casual meals—no need to detour; you can easily stop by with your luggage. Their classic Bacon Cheeseburger comes highly recommended: the patty is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, bursting with juice in every bite 🥩. Paired with melted cheese and crunchy lettuce, it’s incredibly satisfying. If you’re in a hurry, grab a Breakfast Sandwich—with fluffy eggs, savory ham, and a cup of hot coffee, it quickly boosts your energy and softens the rush of catching a flight. Anyone who doesn’t expect much from airport food will probably be surprised by this “better-than-expected deliciousness”! 2. High Point Korean BBQ (Authentic Korean Grill! Indulge in Meat for Stress Relief 🥢) You don’t have to travel far for Korean BBQ—this spot in High Point brings the “Korean street BBQ vibe” straight to North Carolina! 🥩 Located at 2107 Kirkwood St Unit 103, the restaurant is small but full of lively energy. The staff will help you grill, so you don’t have to lift a finger. Must-orders: Short Ribs and Samgyeopsal (Pork Belly). The short ribs have beautiful marbling; when grilled until the edges are slightly charred, the meaty aroma fills your nose. Dipped in house-made Korean chili sauce, it’s tender enough to squeeze out juice. The pork belly sizzles with oil as it grills 💥—wrap it in lettuce, garlic slices, and kimchi, then take a big bite. The combination of fatty aroma and spicy-sour flavor dances on your tongue, filling you with happiness! Don’t miss the Bibimbap either: the crispy rice crust and rich sauce mix perfectly, making every bite flavorful. It’s a total paradise for “meat freedom”! 3. Chad’s Chai (A Cozy Tea Spot in Winston-Salem! A Must-Have for Fall & Winter 🍵) When you’re tired from exploring Winston-Salem, stop by this chai specialty shop hidden at 617 N Liberty St to relax~🍵 It focuses on Indian-style spiced tea (Chai), available hot or iced. In fall and winter, the hot Classic Masala Chai is a must-try: the staff simmers black tea with spices like cinnamon, cardamom, and ginger. When poured, the cup is filled with a warm, spicy aroma. Take a sip—tea flavor blends with a light spice, warming you from your tongue to your stomach ❤️. Pair it with a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie 🍪 (sweet but not cloying) to instantly heal all tiredness. In summer, iced chai is perfect—add a scoop of vanilla ice cream; the mix of tea, milk, and coolness is refreshing and non-greasy. It’s a flavor you’ll want to “repurchase countless times”! 4. Peppers Restaurant (Home-Style American Flavor in Jamestown! Retro Vibe Fully Loaded 🏡) Tucked away at 727 W Main St in the small town of Jamestown, this American restaurant has a “retro home-style vibe” with a touch of nostalgia in its decor—perfect for a slow meal with friends~🍴 Their signature Roast Chicken is a recommendation: the skin is golden and crispy, while the meat is juicy enough to burst. Sprinkled with house-made herb seasoning, it’s not at all dry. The Mac and Cheese is also a hit—loaded with cheese 🧀, every strand of pasta is coated in rich cheese sauce. One bite is full of milk flavor; paired with the roast chicken, it’s savory and satisfying—pure “American comfort food”. The staff is super friendly, making you feel as comfortable as eating at a friend’s house. After the meal, you can take a walk around the small town 🚶—so pleasant you won’t want to leave! #ThisTemplateIsUseful #RestaurantRecommendations #WeeklyFoodCheckIn #HiddenGemRestaurants #Cuisine #EatingOut #DeliciousFood #FoodService #WantToRecordThisMoment
