A One-Day Tour Itinerary of the Capital
This is Bratislava's railway station in Slovakia. Today, I'll be here for 8 hours. Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, is a city where rich history meets modern charm. Located in southwestern Slovakia, at the foot of the Little Carpathians and where the Danube and Morava rivers meet, it covers 368 km² and has a population of around 427,000. As Slovakia's largest city, it's also a political, economic, and cultural hub and an international transportation center.😍😍😍 The city has a long history. Since ancient times, it has been a key point on the Amber Road linking the Adriatic and Baltic seas and a commercial center along the Danube. Archaeological evidence shows human habitation here since the Paleolithic era. The earliest written record of the city dates from 907 CE when Hungarians defeated Bavarians here. Between the 10th and 12th centuries, Hungarian kings ordered a castle to be built on the Danube banks as a defensive structure, which later became the seat of local administrators and clergy.❤️❤️❤️ One-Day Itinerary: - 10:00 AM: Arrive at Bratislava's railway station and take bus number 44 to Bratislava Castle. - 10:40 AM: Arrive at Bratislava Castle. Spend an hour here. The castle grounds are free to explore, and while there's a paid museum inside, I personally didn't find it particularly special, so I didn't go in.😁😁😁 - 12:00 PM: Walk to the UFO Tower. The entrance fee is less than €10 per person, with a student discount of €7.90. Spend about 15 minutes here. Due to strong winds, it's not advisable to stay too long. However, the tower offers great photo opportunities of the castle across the way. - 12:30 PM: Walk to St. Martin's Cathedral and spend 10 minutes here. - 12:50 PM: Walk to Michael's Gate and spend 10 minutes here. - 1:10 PM: Walk to the Cumil statue (The Watcher on the Danube Bank) and spend 5 minutes here. - 1:15 PM: Start exploring the shops and streets of the Old Town. - 2:00 PM: Walk to the Presidential Palace and Presidential Garden. Entry to the palace isn't allowed, but you can take photos outside, and the garden is free to visit. Spend 20 minutes here.🍻🍻🍻 - 2:40 PM: Arrive at the Blue Church. Since the interior is closed to the public, I only took photos outside and spent 5 minutes here. - 3:00 PM: Visit the Old Bridge and spend 20 minutes here. Later, make your way back to the railway station. If you want to catch the sunset, you can wait on the bridge before heading back, as sunsets in winter are relatively early. #Bratislava #Slovakia #Travel
