A P-type Person's 3-Day New Orleans Travel Guide
Went to NOLA over Thanksgiving—a city absolutely perfect for relaxing. All you need to do is devour seafood, drink freely, listen to jazz all night, and dance in the bars on Bourbon Street… escaping all work, social obligations, and stress. 😌 Day 1: Checked into a hotel near the WWII Museum in the afternoon, just a 20-min walk from the liveliest area—the French Quarter. 🏙️ Dinner at Mr. Ed‘s Oyster Bar & Fish House—we tried two types of grilled oysters: Garlic & Rockefeller (topped with bacon bits and spinach). Highly recommended! 🦪 The seafood gumbo was heavenly—chunks of seafood and rice soaked in rich broth. As a savory-loving northerner, one bowl wasn’t enough! 😋 The "Taste of New Orleans" platter was a mix of everything, and the crawfish Étouffée stood out—though the red beans with ham sausage wasn’t really my thing. 🤷♂️ It was a weekend night, so we wandered down Bourbon Street—bright lights everywhere, rivaling Times Square in NYC! 🌃 Day 2: Morning visit to Café du Monde—felt like beignets were just fried dough piled with powdered sugar. 🍩 For sweet fried dough, I prefer churros; for savory, nothing beats Chinese youtiao and doufunao! 😅 After breakfast, we rushed to rent a car and drove an hour to Oak Alley Plantation (tickets bought online in advance, ~$30/person). The weather was perfect—warm sunshine on our backs, feeling like we’d stepped into Tara from Gone with the Wind or young Forrest Gump’s home. 🌳☀️ Dinner at Luke’s—their gumbo was also delicious! Out of curiosity, tried the Pâté of Louisiana Rabbit & Chicken Liver—a bit funky, might not be for everyone, but the side pickles helped cut through. 🐇 The surprise hit was their crispy Brussels sprouts—never thought this veggie could be so good! Perfectly roasted with a tangy tomato sauce underneath. Couldn’t stop eating! 🥬 Day 3: Lunch at Cochon Butcher—the blue crab dip with cheese and crispy bread was amazing! 🦀 Fried alligator meat wasn’t gamey at all—tasted a bit like chicken. 🐊 Evening at Fritzel's European Jazz Pub—just order a drink and enjoy jazz all night. Loved watching the old black grandpa play the washboard! 🎷 After the set, you could tip him and ring the bells on his washboard. 🔔 On the last day, we briefly visited the WWII Museum before flying back! ✈️ #NewOrleans #NewOrleansFood #NOLA #NewOrleansTravel
