I came to New Orleans last December in order to take in a Saints game and to spend a few days to enjoy the city all done up for Christmas. Such a beautiful city around this time of year. Great weather, too. Anyway, I looked at the data from a few different websites, and chose from the consensus best restaurants to wine and dine while I was visiting this delicious city.

Well the Cochon Butcher was one of those places. Everyone that comes here seems to love it, so I was hoping I would, too. We walk over after the game, grab some seats, and stare at the menu for a bit. It was very difficult to make choices, because everything sounded absolutely bangin'. Luckily, the counter workers were able to suss out what we would like, and helped us come to our perfect order.

So I opened up with a pick-two Sausage Plate. I naturally selected the Andouille, and I can't remember what the other one was, but I do remember that the quality of making everything in house really showed. Even in the B+B Pickles! So good.

Another app we got was the Duck Pastrami Sliders (w/gruyere cheese). This was amazing. I loved the rustic simplicity of a sandwich on square bread, cut into quarters, and called sliders. I'm not sure why, but that is right up my alley. Amazing duck pastrami, way better than regular pastrami, duh, and and ample amount of one of the better melting cheeses. So good.

My main was the Le Pig Mac (2 all pork patties, special sauce, lettuce, American cheese, pickle, + onion on a sesame bun). Do I even have to say it? The juicy pork patties were cooked to peak perfection, packed with flavor. The simple, fresh veggies were perfect. And the toasted bun did a Great job of holding it all together. Just wow.

Personally, though, I would request a little extra of that special sauce, pro-tip.

Overall, this place was spectacular. I was worried about my ability to find great places to eat in the sea of great places is one of the best food cities in the world, but man, I really found a gem here. I cannot wait to come back the next time...

You wrote a review for Cochon Butcher 3 days ago 5.0 star rating11/7/2023 It has been over 10 years since I was in New Orleans and looking for lunch. But during my last visit Cochon Butcher went from a "lets try this place" for lunch to the "we are going back every day" kind of place.

So today i had the chance to stop in again. Is ti a LOT bigger? Yes. Is it busy? Absolutely. But "can the food still be that good?" Oh yes.. Yes it can. It was simply amazing.

My 1st compliment is to the management. This could have been one of the most efficient experiences I've had in many/many years. The place was crankin'. Inside and outside tables busy. But my time fron entering to ordering was less than 2 minutes. The guy behind the counter tossed out some of the "you're not going to find this somewhere else" recommendations. And it was on point.

The Boudin was simply succulent. Perfect texture / cooking. The mustard and pickles were a perfect matchup.

The Porchetta Cheesesteak? Are you kidding me? What a GREAT sandwich and the pickled sides were a great combo. And thanks to the server who pointed out which hot sauce goes great with it.

Now, back on the efficient topic. They give you a number on a stand to put on your table so they can bring you the food. I was just finding a spot to sit down when the server arrived with my double IPA and the Boudin. I mean it was less than 3 minutes from ordering to having a beer and food in front of me. Then within another 5 minutes my sandwich arrived. Seriously. In todays world of very challenging staffing issues and maybe not the most eager employees, this place is the exception to the rule. While sitting and enjoying my meal, I heard at least 2 staff members ask if they could do anythnig else before going off shift. Kudo's to the day manager and how he has built up an amazing staff with a gerat attitude.

So, I can only say that if you come to NOLA, and you DON'T give this place a try, it...

At Cocoon Butcher, our dining experience transcended the ordinary, elevating lunch to a realm of culinary delight that left us utterly enchanted. From the moment we stepped into the warmly inviting ambiance, we were greeted with an air of sophistication and a palpable passion for gastronomy that set the stage for an unforgettable meal.

The menu, a masterpiece of carefully curated dishes, showcased an impressive array of ingredients, each chosen for their freshness and quality. Our journey began with an exquisite appetizer that danced on the palate, a symphony of flavors and textures that hinted at the culinary wizardry to come.

The main course was nothing short of a revelation. The expertly crafted dish, featuring the finest cuts from the butcher, was cooked to perfection, each bite a testament to the chef's prowess and attention to detail. The harmony of flavors, the precision of the cooking technique, and the presentation's artistry all combined to create a dish that was not only a feast for the eyes but a celebration of the senses.

Accompanying our meal was a selection of sides that complemented the main course with grace and subtlety, each one showcasing a unique twist that elevated the overall dining experience. The attentive and knowledgeable staff ensured our every need was met, enhancing the meal with their professionalism and warmth.

As we concluded our lunch with a dessert that was both visually stunning and decadently delicious, it was clear that Cocoon Butcher is not just a restaurant; it's a destination for those who seek to savor the art of food in its highest form. This was not merely a meal; it was an epicurean journey that will linger in our memories, beckoning us to return and once again indulge in its...

TLDR: Cochon Butcher has always been a local legend, and now with a Michelin Bib Gourmand which is well deserved. I have been coming to Cochon Butcher ever since the late, great Anthony Bourdain recommended it, and it has only gotten better over time. Fast forward to 2025, and seeing them finally receive a Michelin Bib Gourmand feels like well earned recognition. I brought my wedding party here for our rehearsal lunch, and it could not have gone better. The staff was incredible. We called ahead since we had a large group, and they kindly reserved a section for us so we could enjoy our meal together. Everyone was blown away by how exceptional the food was for what is considered “fast casual.” We practically ordered the entire menu, from the BBQ shrimp to the Cochon Muffaletta, the Cochon burger, and the boudin links. Every single dish was outstanding. The flavors, the portions, and the consistency were all on point. The drink menu deserves special mention too. The beer, wine, and cocktail list is excellent. The Hogwash Old Fashioned was the star of the show. The glass is rinsed with pork fat before mixing, giving it a subtle smoky depth that makes it unforgettable. We chose to sit outside since it was a beautiful day, and it made the experience even more enjoyable. Surrounded by good friends, great food, and the relaxed energy of New Orleans, it was a meal to remember. Michelin may have just discovered Cochon Butcher, but we have known for years that it is something special.
