A Perfect Day Trip to Peterborough! 🚢🍁

This morning, I woke up to lovely weather and spontaneously decided to visit Peterborough for the Liftlock Boat Tour. The Peterborough Liftlock is one of the world’s highest hydraulic boat lifts, and while we’d visited the locks before, we’d never taken the boat ride. The crisp autumn air made it the perfect day for it! Since it was a last-minute plan, we arrived at the dock only to find that weekend tickets were completely sold out 😅. But luck was on our side! Some passengers with reservations didn’t show up, so at the last minute, we managed to snag their spots 🎉. Pro tip: If you’re planning to go, check the schedule and book in advance (the contact number is in the photos). The boat had snacks and beer 🍻 (bring cash!), and the weather couldn’t have been better—gentle breeze, golden sunlight, and the maple leaves just starting to turn red �. We leisurely drifted through the locks and were lifted 20 meters up to the canal, where we even spotted Trent University’s rowing team practicing! At the end of the tour, the captain invited all the kids to the wheelhouse for a "mini-captain" experience ⚓—so much fun! After the cruise, we headed to the nearby Riverside Zoo 🦌 to see the animals and let the little ones play at the playground. As the crescent moon rose, we drove home, completely satisfied with our little adventure 🌙💖. Verdict: Peterborough is a fantastic spot for a day trip—kids can enjoy the boat ride, visit the zoo, and play to their hearts’ content.
