The lift lock, itself, really is amazing and I loved watching it in action as well as admiring the design and history of the locks. The reason I didn’t give this site a 5/5 is the parks building that welcomes visitors from the parking lot. Looks like they had to close the building down and it has fallen into disrepair. And I watched as visitors circled the building looking for the washrooms (there are washrooms at the top of the lift locks on the same side of the Trent as the parking lot). There are also picnic tables and lots of places to sit and the parking lot is good.

Salute human ingenuity navigating the heritage canals and locks along the 386 km Trent-Severn Waterway, connecting the playgrounds of Lake Ontario and Lake Huron. Cruise Canada’s renowned inland passageway through historic lockstations. Travel into cottage country by water or by car and watch the Big Chute Marine Railway in action. Stare up at the towering Peterborough Lift Lock and learn about its history at the Visitor Centre. If visiting by car/bus/foot: beautiful area and excellent access to the Lift Lock. You can get right up close and even walk the foot path that goes underneath the upper channel. Best view of this marvel is from the bottom. Very nice parkland. If visiting by boat: be careful of depth as the west side of the channel only looks to be no more than 4' in places. Very weeded when traffic is low. If draft is a concern, best stick to tying up on the east side (upbound side).

The lift lock is a place located in the Peterborough on the Trent Canal. From tears, this place provides the visitors with an amazing experience of be at the height of 65 ft. in a raised boat. A wonderful experience everyone should feel if you’re in Ontario as it world’s highest hydraulic boat lift. It’s an attraction for tourists located in the city of Peterborough, a beautiful town in Ontario😌

Free skating on a huge natural Ice surface is about as Canadian as you can get. End-to-end it might be about half a kilometer or maybe a little bit more. There's one part you can't Traverse because the bridge above it is open and as the cars drive over it all the dirt and debris falls down on the ice, and you'll never be able to make it past on skates. Other than that 100% perfectly awesome

We traveled through the locks in our Rossi 246. Well stocked visitor's center gift shop that was able to sell us the Ports guise we could obtain no-where else (as well as some nice gifts) Friendly and well-informed staff (run by Parks Canada). Very smooth well-run lock operation, but a thrill to ride 60 feet up in a bathtub of water! Excellent passage!
