A Summer Healed by Gloucester š¦š
I always thought Gloucester was just a quiet little fishing village. Iād dug for clams at Wingaersheek Beach and long adored the Hammond Castle Museum and Beauport, Sleeper-McCann House. This summer, because my dadāan avid fishermanācame to visit, I dropped him off at Dog Bar almost every weekend, and unexpectedly uncovered a Gloucester that just keeps getting more and more enjoyable to explore. āļø Caffe Sicilia My weekend ritual. A coffee with a small pastry, surrounded by grandparents chatting in Italian. I learned that many immigrants from Sicily live here. Itās a tiny place, filled with regulars who insist on treating each otherāsomehow it feels like stepping into a noodle shop back in my hometown. š„ Virgilioās Bakery The aroma hits you as soon as you walk in. Buy a big bag of freshly baked bread and munch as you strollāsimple but joyful. š Rim Lay (Thai food) There arenāt many Asian restaurants around, but this oneās reliable. Iād pack fried rice for my fishing dad as a lunchbox, and heād finish it happily. š Bravo By The Sea $8 for two slices of pizza and a drinkāand itās actually pretty good. Who says you canāt find pineapple pizza in America? Well, here it is. š Dogtown Book Shop A cozy little bookstore where you can lose track of time without even noticing. š¶ Fireflies Boutique A treasure trove of secondhand childrenās clothingāaffordable, in great condition, and winter wear is especially a steal. š The whole street is wonderfully walkable, with lovely bookshops, boutiques, wine and cheese storesāyou could easily spend a whole day here. š¦ Causeway Restaurant My favorite seafood spotāfresh, enormous portions, and every visit leaves me completely satisfied. š Dog Bar Lighthouse A whole neighborhood of stunning houses near the lighthouse. Driving through, you canāt help but think, āWow, this place is beautiful.ā Gloucester truly is a place you learn to love, slowly and surely. #BostonLife #IfHealingHadAColor #BostonWeekendGetaway #Boston #AroundBoston #Gloucester
