A surprise adventure
Talk about a lucky break—our original tour fell through last minute, and that’s when Akamai and Haley came to the rescue! 🆘 It wasn’t just a backup plan—it was a total blessing, like the island itself handed us a special gift 🎁. We left that day with way more joy than we ever expected, and we’re still gushing about it! First, they picked us up right at the cruise port—no stress, no scrambling, just a warm welcome that instantly put us at ease 🚗. From there, we headed to Volcanoes National Park for a super personal tour—no big crowds, just us, the guides, and the incredible volcanic landscape. It felt like having our own private adventure! Pro tip: Bring your hiking shoes! 🥾 We laced up and trekked through lava fields to Makaopuhi Crater, and let me tell you—it was a spiritual moment. Standing there, looking hundreds of feet down into that crater with zero crowds around? The silence, the raw beauty of the land… it’s something we’ll all remember forever 🌋. After the crater, we explored a lava tube (so cool to walk through that dark, otherworldly space!), checked out the rim of the crater, and visited Volcano House—each stop felt like a new discovery. And the best part? Throughout the whole trip, Akamai and Haley shared amazing stories about Hawaii’s history and the volcano—no boring facts, just fascinating tales that kept us all hooked. We have kids (8, 13, and 16 years old), and even they were totally into it! Haley’s a coach, and she knows exactly how to keep kiddos engaged—she asked questions, shared fun little tidbits, and made sure they never got bored.
