A Surreal Funeral For The Modern Age Is Coming To L.A. & It’s Unlike Anything You’ve Seen

Before a new era can be welcomed in, the old one must be mourned. That’s the idea at the core of The Cortège, a theatrical spectacle that blends mythic pageantry, live ritual, and cutting-edge tech to stage a “festive funeral for our times.” It’s certainly one of the most original shows you can catch in LA, and it’s coming to the Equestrian Center (480 Riverside Drive, Burbank) for a limited three week run from September 11-28! The Cortège invites audiences on a sonic voyage through choreographed movement, archetypal costuming, drone apparitions, puppetry, robotics, and participation. Here are some of the things you can expect at this stunning surreal experience : * Open-air market with food and drinks * Live music * Large-scale puppetry * Drone art and synchronized quadruped robots * A cinematic musical score transmitted via silent disco-style headsets * Original music from artists such as El Búho, Boreta, and TOKiMONSTA * Tracks from Air, Andrew Bird, Beautiful Chorus, Freedom Fighters, Jean-Michelle Jarre, and more! * Tea service and communal gathering in the Afterlife Tent * Ambient live music and DJ sets from special guests TBA The Cortège takes place at dusk, with the performance’s wordless, cinematic score being transmitted via wireless headsets .
