A traditional and creative Thai restaurant
š 3031 Merchant Wy unit 117, Langford, BC V9B 3Y7 This Thai restaurant in Langford blends traditional and creative dishesāitās not a big spot from the outside, but there are plenty of seats inside, and theyāre not cramped at all. Heads up though: during peak hours, servers are totally stretched thināyouāll wait ages to flag someone down! š®šØ ā A2 Pla Muug Tod š°18 Crispy squidāthey fry the batter so thoroughly itās shatteringly crisp, while the squid inside stays tender but chewy. It comes with veggies like zucchini and bell peppers, and they did a great job draining the oilāno gross greasy aftertaste at all. The seasoning itself is cumin salt, and thereās Thai sweet chili sauce for dippingāeither way, itās delicious! š¦ ā A5 Peeg Gai Tod š°18.5 Crispy chicken wingsāthe skin is super crunchy, a little greasy but still no oily aftertaste. The chicken inside is plump and tender, almost like KFCās original recipe! The dip is honey sauce, which Iām not intoāit just makes it greasier. A sweet-sour or spicy-sour dip wouldāve been way better. š ā S4 Tom Kah Goong š°18.5 Creamy coconut prawn soupāclassic Thai flavors here: spicy, sour, salty, and umami, bold and super appetizing. The coconut and cream taste is rich but not heavy, and the mushrooms mixed in cut through the saltiness. The prawns are frozen, thoughātheir texture is a bit stiff, not as bouncy as fresh ones. Still, sipping this hot, flavorful soup is so comforting! š„£ ā N3 Guay Teow Kee Mao š°16.5 Drunken noodles (also called Thai stir-fried wide rice noodles)āthe seasoning is salty with a hint of sweet, and the egg bits stuck to the noodles smell amazing. The wide noodles are chewy, and it tastes like the food I had as a kid! There are some veggies mixed in too, which is nice. š ā D5 Lychee Sticky Rice š°10 Lychee sticky riceātotal letdown. The lychee is canned and cloyingly sweet, and even though the coconut sticky rice is seasoned the same as mango sticky rice, the combo is just weird. At least there isnāt much lycheeāI focused on the rice, which was a small consolation for my mango sticky rice cravings. š„ā š D1 Gluay Tod & Gelato š°9 Fried banana with vanilla gelatoābananas can taste a bit astringent raw, but frying them brings out the sweetness and gets rid of that astringency. The vanilla gelato itself is fine, but why did they drizzle honey on top? Coconut flakes wouldāve been betterā the honey makes it way too sweet and cloying. Just okay. šš¦ #ThaiFood #ThaiRestaurant #BaanThai #Canada #CanadaFood #VancouverIsland #Victoria #Foodie #LifeSnippets #FoodTour #MyDailyLife #RestaurantRecommendation #HiddenGemRestaurant #GlobalFoodSquad #FoodCheckIn #SoloDining #EatsAndTreats
