Acadia 🦞 | Every Spot Serves Lobster—But No Two Are the Same 🧐
🦞 Union River Lobster Pot 🌟 It’s in Ellsworth, about a 30-minute drive from Acadia. We went on a pouring rain day ☔, but there was still a line—mostly local seniors! A guy at the door would weigh each lobster and sort them into baskets by weight; when you order, you pick based on how heavy you want your lobster to be. Super straightforward! When the lobster arrived, some parts were already pre-cracked (total win! 🎉)—no messy excess water, not too salty, and no struggling to crack the shell yourself. The 2-pound lobster we got was loaded with roe 😍—from the head all the way to the tail, every bite had that rich, briny goodness. Their clam chowder was packed with ingredients too (okay, mostly potatoes, but still tasty!), and all the shellfish were fresh. We’d definitely go back! 🦞 Bar Harbor Lobster Pound 🌟 This one’s right in Bar Harbor, super close to Acadia—perfect for a post-ski or post-hike stop! You line up outside to order, find your own table, and the server brings your food… but you have to clear your tray yourself (kind of like McDonald’s, casual vibes). At first, I thought the lobster roll was a bit pricey… until I realized the lobster meat is freshly picked to order! The price is based on the day’s market rate, which made it feel totally worth it. They also sell ice cream, but they didn’t have the flavor I wanted, so we skipped it this time 😕. 🦞 Trenton Bridge Lobster Pound 🌟 It’s near the entrance to the island, just a 10-minute drive from Acadia—super convenient if you’re heading to or from the park. When you walk in, you line up first. They’ll ask if you want a soft-shell or hard-shell lobster (soft-shell is sweeter, hard-shell has more meat 🦞), then let you pick one to weigh. Since they need to weigh them, the lobsters aren’t kept in water—good to know! Then you get a menu to check off other dishes or combos, and wait for your number to be called. The lobster itself wasn’t prepped like the first spot—there was some salty water from cooking, but it was still fresh. If you’re looking for affordable lobster, this is the place! Just don’t set your expectations too high for other menu items—they’re decent, but the lobster’s the star here 🫢. #AcadiaLobster #MaineSeafood #AcadiaEats #BarHarborFood
