We came here twice during our Memorial Weekend stay in Bar Harbor! They have a large parking lot and huge outdoor space with picnic tables with outdoor heaters, games to keep you entertained (corn hole was popular), and a boat for your ice cream cravings.
Our 1st night, we ordered the lobster roll with fries, clam chowder, and oysters. In addition to the prices being fair, the food was delicious! I loved their clam chowder so much that I had to go back again the next night. It was the perfect consistency (not too thick but still creamy), loved the slightly peppery taste, and there was so much meat in the bowl. The portion in our lobster roll was solid and the buns were nicely buttered and toasted to perfection.
Our 2nd night here, we ordered the clam chowder (obviously), the fish and chips, grilled shrimp basket, and fried clams basket. All of these were, once again, so so so worth their price - especially the fried clams! The batter is nicely seasoned, the clams were meaty, and the fries were crispy.
We had a slight misunderstanding when we ordered during our 2nd time here. We weren’t paying attention when it was time to pay for our order, and didn’t realize it said the fried shrimp basket. Aaron (the owner) and Laura went above and beyond when they seriously didn’t need to! Aaron brought out a huge serving of the fried clams and let us keep the fried shrimp basket. It was an honest misunderstanding - but they provided such amazing customer service in addition to outstanding food that we are now lifetime fans of theirs! Honestly, all the workers there were friendly and helpful. I also want to specifically shout out Laura who constantly checked the indoor seating area to make sure it was clean and provided trivia for those of us there! She was so sweet and kind; if you meet her there, you better treat her the same way!!
Bar Harbor Lobster Pound is a place you should check out for delicious seafood and amazing ambience. The only regret I have here is not trying their blueberry pie - but that means I need to...

From the moment you arrive, you're greeted with close-up parking, making it incredibly convenient for families, groups, or anyone just looking to pop in for a great meal. The family-friendly atmosphere is immediately apparent—everywhere you look, you'll see smiling families, children laughing, and even dogs lounging happily at their owners' feet.
Stepping into the restaurant feels like being transported into the heart of the woods. The ambiance is rustic yet refined, and the centerpiece of it all is their very own ice cream boat. I have to say, the ice cream is the creamiest, most delicious I've ever tasted—an absolute must-try. And if you love fresh seafood, you’re in for a treat: a talented chef cooks the lobster right in front of you.
I ordered the lobster dinner, and it was hands-down the best lobster I've ever had. The meat was juicy and bursting with flavor, cooked to absolute perfection. Even the sides were amazing, each dish prepared with the kind of care and attention you rarely find. And if you're not in the mood for lobster, the rest of the menu is equally mouth-watering; there are so many incredible options that you’ll want to come back again and again to try them all.
The service was top-notch, with a clean environment and a staff that made us feel right at home. I had a lovely conversation with Laura, who was super nice and clearly passionate about making every guest's experience special. The food came out quickly as well.
Maine is famous for its lobster, and I know there are countless places to get it, but trust me, this restaurant is the best of the best. It’s no joke, and you won’t be disappointed. I’ve only written two reviews in my life, so the fact that I’m writing this one says something—this place is truly...
Read moreThis place is amazing! This was our first time visiting Maine and after reading the reviews online, this seemed like the place to visit despite it only recently opening. I could tell you that the food was delicious, because it is out of this world, but what won me over was their friendly service. After my friend and I ordered, I waited over 30 minutes for my food when it seemed that everyone around me had already received theirs. When I went and approached one of the workers, she promptly checked on the food for me and told me that my order had accidentally been bumped. She apologized profusely and made sure that we were treated to free dessert. As a former food service worker and current healthcare professional, I understand that mistakes can and will happen. However, it's how you respond to them that shows an institution's true colors. After receiving my food (which was incredible), the worker again came to us and apologized and talked to us. She recommended we try the blueberry pie a la mode for our free dessert, which we did. And let me tell you, this was one of the best desserts I've ever eaten. Highly recommend! Long story short, this place really made us feel welcomed and like we were family. They not only were quick to admit and apologize for their mistake, but took active steps to rectify their error. I hold no ill will toward them. On the contrary, I will continue to come back here whenever I am in the area again. Because while you may initially come for the food (for good reason), it's the service that makes you want to keep...
