π Across North America Β· Days 1-3 ο½ Banff - Calgary - Regina
π¦ Day 1: Banff Town β Calgary Spent a slow morning exploring Banff. We originally wanted to try venison, but found out it requires advance booking πβ¦ so we settled for whatβs supposedly the most famous pho in Canada. Honestly? It was the worst bowl Iβve had in Canada β no exaggeration β. Not recommended! The town is beautiful, but unfortunately, it rained all day π§οΈ, so we didnβt get many photos. The kids loved the vibe though! We hung around until 4 pm before driving to Calgary to meet old friends and visit our cat who βmovedβ there π±. ποΈ Day 2: Calgary β Saskatchewan After a hearty Northeast Chinese meal in Calgary (huge portions! π₯), we continued east toward Saskatchewan. The atmosphere changed as soon as we entered the province β people became noticeably kinder and more easygoing. We stopped at a small-town burger joint where the staff were trained like they came from Haidilao Hot Pot! π² They gave candy to the kids, enthusiastically recommended dishes, and even offered to remake our order for free if we didnβt like the sauce. Unbelievably kind service πβ€οΈ. Now THIS feels like the Canada I remember! π Day 3: Arrived in Regina We pulled up to our downtown Regina hotel around 1 am. While my wife checked in, I waited in the car β and was approached by several unhoused people asking for food or bus money π₯Ί. I wondered why there were so manyβ¦ until I realized our hotel was right across from a casino π°. π The next morning, we visited the Royal Saskatchewan Museum β and it was free (donation-based)! The dinosaur fossils lit up the kidsβ eyes π¦β¨. Absolutely worth the visit! We also stopped by a site visited by Queen Elizabeth II and took some photos πΈ β a perfect end to these first few days. #CrossNorthAmerica #CanadaTravel #Calgary #Regina #Winnipeg #RoadTrip #NorthAmericaByCar
