📍 Avenue 26 Tacos 353 S Alameda St, Los Angeles, CA 90013 (Multiple locations, but this one is the best) 🕒 Hours: Sun–Thu: 2:00 PM – 2:30 AM Fri–Sat: 2:00 PM – 3:30 AM 🌟 Avenue 26 Tacos — with 100K+ IG followers — totally changed my view of street food being dirty or unsafe. They rent their own parking lot and even have security on-site — so you can eat with peace of mind! 🌟 My absolute favorite is the CABEZA (beef head) taco — tastes like tender, slow-braised brisket with gelatinous beef tendon. Juicy, collagen-rich, and packed with flavor — I eat at least 5 every time! Other meats like grilled chicken, pork (al pastor), pork stomach (buche), and beef tongue are also good, but nothing beats the cabeza. (Note: Their beef tongue is a bit dry — the best lengua is at Tacos El Gordo.) 🌟 Pro tip: Order two tacos at a time, eat them fresh, then go back for more. Cold tacos just aren’t the same! Don’t forget the free stewed potatoes 🥔 and grilled onions (so sweet 🧅). They’re usually served with a little diced raw onion, cilantro, and green salsa. 🌟 I love their braising liquid — honestly might even surpass Cantonese master stock for me. Flavorful but never leaves me feeling “heaty.” My first taco experience was at Holbox — a Michelin-recommended seafood taco spot — and it was a huge letdown.
