Addis Ababa | Museum Guide

🗿Ethio National Museum (National Museum of Ethiopia) The museum is not very large, but the G-level is home to the museum’s crown jewel: the skeleton of Lucy, the earliest known human ancestor, while the first floor features a variety of cultural and artistic items that are characteristic of Ethiopia, and the second floor showcases traditional weapons, jewelry, utensils, clothing, and musical instruments. 🌼Addis Ababa Museum The entrance is behind Meskel Square, which is quite concealed, but the environment inside is particularly tranquil, and the building itself is a small, reddish-brown wooden structure. Standing in the courtyard, you can get a panoramic view of Meskel Square, and the ticket price is only 50 birr; the content is not extensive, but the theme is Addis Ababa (which literally means "New Flower"), and there is a small art gallery upstairs showcasing some artworks. ⚔️Adwa Museum (Adwa Museum) The newly completed modern museum is dedicated to the Battle of Adwa, which is the most proud battle fought by the Ethiopian people; in the face of well-equipped and well-trained Italian troops, the Ethiopian soldiers fought bravely and valiantly, repelled the Italian forces, and won the Battle of Adwa. From then on, the Ethiopians proudly tell everyone that they have never been colonized. 🩸 Red Terror Martyrs’ Memorial Museum Political movements are always accompanied by “heroic” and “brutal” actions, and the atmosphere of this museum is the same as that of the “Memorial Hall for the Victims of the Nanjing Massacre” in China; you can feel it as soon as you enter, during which countless Ethiopians were brutally killed; the atmosphere inside the museum is so oppressive that I didn’t dare to stay for too long; I managed to get in with a donation-based ticket despite not having any cash on me that day. 📧Ethio Post Museum Located next to the Post Office Building, next to the ENTOTO branch, this place is home to a variety of items related to Ethiopia's postal history, with stamps being the most important ones; what makes it unique is the pull-out stamp display case, which not only saves space but also gives the impression of opening a historical drawer. The ticket costs 150 birr, and it is open on weekdays. #ArtandArchitecture#Museums#Check-ins#Travel#Africa
