Addis Ababa | Must-visit spots

🦁The Lion of Judah (Monument to the Judah Legion) There are two iconic "Judas Lions" in Addis Ababa, one next to the National Theatre and the other next to the Central Station; as Ethiopia is the world's most religious country, this lion, which symbolizes leadership, holds great religious and historical significance and is definitely worth a visit; however, there's not much else to see besides a newly built small park next to it. 🏫Addis Ababa University (AAU) This is Ethiopia's equivalent of Peking University; it ranks within the top 1,000 universities in the QS rankings and is considered to be quite good among African universities. The university campus has a historical feel to it, with plenty of greenery, and under the shade of the trees, there are many college students engrossed in their studies. The lecture halls are quite old-fashioned, and it is said that almost all classes are taught in English, which means that many of the educated individuals here are quite fluent in the language. You might want to visit the library and museum to get a sense of the cultural atmosphere. 🕊️Ethiopia-Cube Friendship Memorial Park (Gou'e Friendship Park) The Friendship Park between Ethiopia and Cuba: During the socialist era, Ethiopia maintained close ties with Cuba, and there were exchanges of troops and military equipment between the two countries. This is a memorial park dedicated to Cuban soldiers who sacrificed their lives fighting for Ethiopia during the Derg era. I've often passed by this place, thinking it only contained a single monument, but I was surprised to discover that there are small clusters of trees on either side of the park, and the chirping of birds is particularly loud here. Couples on dates, as well as individuals taking nap breaks or soaking up the sun, are frequently seen here. There's also a children's play area on the left with seesaws and swings; sitting on the swings and looking up at the sunlight filtering through the branches of the trees feels incredibly peaceful and loving. 🇫🇷Alliance Ethio-Francaise (AF) The courtyard of the Alliance Française is also quite secluded, but once you enter, you'll find a completely different world with teaching buildings, a dining hall, and a bar, where various music and art events are held from time to time. The restaurant's interior design is elegant, and there are plenty of scenic spots around. If you have a lot of free time and are interested in French, you can sign up for classes here at an extremely low cost. There might be a branch in Bole as well, but I went to Piassa. 🎨St George Gallery This should be a private art gallery with a very French style; the lady I encountered in the sales area was speaking French, although she also spoke excellent English. The building has a chapel-like appearance, and there are several interconnected exhibition rooms inside, each with carefully arranged artworks that exude a strong sense of artistry. Beyond the courtyard lies a section dedicated to designer brands, offering a variety of cotton and linen products, leather goods, and designs that are both unique and distinct from those found on the main streets; however, the clothing sizes tend to be European, making them more suitable for taller individuals. #Ethiopia #AfricanLife#Check-in #TouristAttractions #DayTrip
