Adelaide Solo Day Trip
✈️ Took a 6:30 AM flight from Sydney → Adelaide Adelaide Airport is quite small – domestic and international flights are in the same terminal. Since I was transferring domestically to international, I didn’t need to change terminals – super convenient! 🧳 Luggage Storage: Not inside the terminal – you need to walk out to the car rental area. There are lockers available. 💰 24 hours: $16 AUD | Easy to use Carry-on → medium locker | Check-in luggage → large locker Just set your own code and remember it – simple! 🚖 Took an Uber to the city – around $20+ AUD from the airport. Don’t get overcharged! 🌟 Central Market – Highly recommend! Perfect for lunch. Went straight from the airport to the market. On Dec 24, it was packed with people shopping for Christmas dinner – very lively! I grabbed breakfast at a random café (nothing special, so not recommending), but there are plenty of food options to try. 💚 Must-try: Sugarcane Juice – $7 no ice 🥤 Huge cup, great value! Actually tastes better with ice – locals can take it home and add ice themselves 😉 Took me all day to finish it – tasted just like chewing sugarcane as a kid! I diluted it with water later since it was a bit too sweet. Another stall had amazing apple-watermelon juice too! 🍎🍉 The market also sells fresh produce, jerky, local honey, and even lets you press your own nut butter (peanut, almond, hazelnut) – so fragrant! If I lived here, I’d come all the time – such a fun place! 🌟 Art Gallery of South Australia 🎫 Free entry Interesting colonial-style art exhibitions – great for learning a bit of history 😂 There was also a tiny Yayoi Kusama section – very small but colorful (I loved it!). 🌟 State Library The Christmas tree inside was gorgeous! 🎄 So many kids taking photos. Outside was bright and sunny, but inside it felt peaceful and poetic – definitely worth a visit during Christmas. 🛴 Since Adelaide CBD is pretty compact (but hot and sunny!), I used e-scooters for transport. Downloaded the Beam app and followed Google Maps – loved sightseeing while riding! Not exactly cheap though – one ride cost over $20. ✈️ Caught a 6:30 PM flight back to New Zealand. Headed to the airport via Uber at 3 PM to collect luggage, check in, and handle tax refund. ⚠️ International flights require two security checks – if you need a tax refund, go early! You can also pre-download the app (TRS) to make it smoother. Trip over – time to fly home to my warm bed and cuddle my little cat 🐱💕 #Travel #Adelaide #TravelGuide #Australia #ExploreAustralia #AdelaideFood
