Adelaide Travel Guide 1: Hahndorf & Nature Spots
Quick note: We chose winter because we prefer cooler weather and it aligned with our semester break. While some spots weren’t at their best this season, they might be lovely in autumn or spring! 🍂🌸 Day 1 (9 AM – 7 PM | Wear comfy shoes! 👟) 💦 First Stop: Waterfall Gully About 30 mins from the city. Honest review: In winter, it’s not ideal ❄️. The waterfall was thin even after rain, and there weren’t many autumn leaves. We left quickly due to the weather. There’s a hiking trail uphill, but we skipped it. Verdict: Skip in winter, try in other seasons. 🇩🇪 Second Stop: Hahndorf German Village Mid-June = low season. Many shops were closed 🏪. I remember it being much livelier in autumn! Lunch at German Arms Hotel: Ordered the Hock Platter (2 types of pork knuckle + sausages) and Ribs & Wings Food was tasty but heavy – we only finished half! Sauerkraut was refreshing, mashed potatoes tasted like IKEA’s 😄 Ribs were tender, wings had a tangy sauce – 👍 Verdict: Come in autumn for a better vibe! 🌊 Third Stop: Onkaparinga River Mouth View Point Park and walk a bit – manageable for most 🚶♀️. Left side: ocean views 🌊 Right side: a long metal bridge (the wooden one is closed) Tip: Wear a hat – the wind is strong! 💨 🌄 Fourth Stop: Mount Osmond Lookout Stunning views over Adelaide 🏙️, but super windy! The path to the viewpoint is unpaved and slippery – be careful! Grass has better grip. Sunset is beautiful here 🌅. Bring a good camera – Polaroids turn out too dark 📸. 🍲 Fifth Stop: Vietnamese Restaurant Found a gem! 🍜 Crispy pork belly 🐖 Mushroom fried rice 🍄 Marinated onions with beef (even non-beef lovers liked it!) Everything was delicious – 10/10! ⭐ Final Thoughts: Winter in Adelaide has its charms, but some spots shine brighter in other seasons. Pack warm clothes, good shoes, and a flexible plan! #Adelaide #AdelaideEats #AdelaideTravel #ExploreSA #TravelGuide #WinterGetaway
