I finally found amazing egg tarts! 🥳 Let me get straight to the point—the best ones are definitely from Jim's Bakery! 🏆 Here’s my review in the order I tried them: 1️⃣ The first place I tried was at a Cantonese dim sum spot on the Peninsula. The tarts were decent, but nothing extraordinary. (Forgot to take a photo, oops! 😅) 2️⃣ The second attempt was supposed to be Jim’s, but I didn’t check their hours—turned out they’re closed on Tuesdays! 😭 So I went to Kee Wah Bakery nearby instead. I tried their flaky egg tart, crispy egg tart, and Portuguese tart… but sadly, they were just okay. The crusts were dry and not very fragrant. 🥺 3️⃣ Finally—I made it to Jim’s Bakery! 🥮✨ Whether it’s their classic egg tart or Portuguese tart, both are absolutely delicious! 🍮 I strongly recommend eating them fresh in the shop—the flavor is absolutely incredible! Even better than many tarts I’ve had back in China! The Portuguese tart has a layered, flaky crust, while the classic egg tart has a traditional crispy crust—so crunchy and rich! The Portuguese tart also has a stronger custardy creaminess in the center. I usually prefer classic egg tarts, but Jim’s made it impossible to choose between the two! 😍 4️⃣ I also tried the highly hyped Phu’s Bakery. They only sell Portuguese tarts, no classic egg tarts. You order at the counter (unlike other bakeries where you can browse inside). I had high hopes, but the crust had a weird sour taste—I couldn’t finish even one bite. Ended up wasting it. 🙈 I’m new to LA—welcome to share your favorite egg tart spots in the comments! Let’s eat more delicious food together! 💬🍴 #EggTart #LosAngeles #LAFood #LAEggTart #PortugueseTart #BakeryLove #FoodReview #SweetTooth #LABakeries #DessertLovers #EatLA
