After Trying 9 LA Yakitori Spots, Here’s My Top Picks… 🍢🔥
Torihei Yakitori Robata Dining – 4.8🌟 Rumored to be LA’s best yakitori — their meatball is absolutely incredible (crisp outside, tender inside, best I’ve had). Gizzard and heart are super tender, beef is fatty and soft, and chicken tail is a must-try! Truly deserves its top spot — but be prepared to wait up to 2 hours. 💵 Avg per person: Just $40! 😱 Torimatsu – 4.5🌟 Ordered the set menu — chicken soup was delicious. Their chicken meatball was unforgettable — first bite was a wow! Chicken tail was great, tofu skin stuffed with chicken soaked in broth was flavorful. Liver, skin, shiso, lotus root chicken skewers, and quail egg were solid. Safe to blindly order meatballs and all chicken skewers. 💵 Avg: $50 Nanban-kan – 4.5🌟 One of the highest-rated spots. Beef tongue and chicken meatball highly recommended — everything tastes great. Though the cartilage might be tough for those with sensitive teeth. 💵 Avg: $50 N/Soto – 4.5🌟 Izakaya-style skewers. Their beef tongue is amazing — huge, radish-like slices, super flavorful. Pork belly was delicious; chicken thigh, beef, cherry tomatoes were good. Mushroom yuzu rice comes in a huge portion — order with caution (but it’s fragrant!). 💵 Avg: $50–70 Taberu – 4🌟 Mixed reviews online — fusion style. Chicken thigh with yuzu seasoning was tasty, cabbage with rich tomato sauce was good, salmon was tender and fragrant. Green pepper with cheese mince was average, meatball with cheese wasn’t my favorite. 💵 Avg: $40–50 Torigoya – 4🌟 Meatball was nice, gizzard well-grilled and not gamey, liver was tender but slightly bitter, chicken thigh was good. Oyako don was surprisingly delicious — overall solid but not super memorable. 💵 Avg: $40–45 Hatch – 3.8🌟 Chicken heart, gizzard, salmon were average — heart wasn’t very flavorful and a bit dry. But their chicken meatball was good with homemade sauce, beef tongue was excellent (tender like beef stew). Mushrooms and corn were nice. 💵 Avg: $70 — unexpectedly pricey 💸 Izakaya Hachi – 4.0🌟 Highly recommend pork cheek and chicken thigh — other standout was the ochazuke (tea rice) — absolutely amazing! Beef tongue, chicken skewers, oysters were okay. 💵 Avg: $60 Izakaya Bizan – 3.5🌟 Monkfish liver sushi and beef rice were the highlights — beef was soft and finely textured. Skewers were average — chicken skin slightly bitter, shiitake mushrooms weren’t great, chicken and beef were fine. 💵 Avg: $40 Izakaya Osen – AVOID! 🚫 Their sashimi rice bowl was good, but the skewers were a major letdown — dry and badly cooked. Tried many, none were edible. Do not order skewers here! 🏆 Bonus Mention: Aburiya Raku in Vegas – my personal 5🌟 favorite! ✨ #LosAngeles #LocalEats #YakitoriGuide #LAFoodie #EatLikeALocal 🍢
