Aix-en-Provence: A Chic & Kid-Friendly Gem in Southern France 🇫🇷✨
Fell in love with Aix-en-Provence, an elegant, underrated "old money" town in the South of France! 💎 Unlike touristy hotspots, it’s quiet (few Asian visitors) but full of life thanks to its prestigious university. Think artistic vibes, luxury boutiques, and wealthy French retirees enjoying the good life. 🎨🛍️ Fun fact: It’s home to Provence’s only Apple Store (huge!) and even a Hermès—no surprise, since it was once a noble ducal seat and the beloved hometown of artist Paul Cézanne. 🖼️ (Sadly, his exhibitions/studio were closed for prep, but next time!) With two kids in tow (and a canyon hike coming up), we kept our 1.5-day visit relaxed but magical—here’s how: 🏡 Where We Stayed: A cozy old-town Airbnb—quiet courtyard location, steps from restaurants & sights. Perfect! 👨👩👧👦 Kid-Friendly Activities: 🚂 Tourist Train (45min ride): Scenic loop with Chinese audio guide (minimal commentary, but great for lazy sightseeing). Kids loved it! €10/adult, €5/child, free for our 2.5yo. ⛪ Aix Cathedral (Saint-Sauveur): Stunning! More impressive (to us) than the restored Notre-Dame in Paris. Ancient yet modern—love the contemporary priest’s table blending in. 🍓 Morning Market: A must for fresh fruits and local life vibes. My favorite way to experience any city! 🎨 Gallifet Art Center: Spotted from the train and instantly drawn in! A historic mansion-turned-gallery with gorgeous exhibits. Kids played with pebbles in the tranquil garden while we relaxed. 🌿 🌳 Parc Jourdan: The only large park near the old town—playground, slides, and picnic-perfect lawns. (See last 3 pics!) 💭 Final Thoughts: Our family city walk was a dream—we even joked about the kids studying here someday! Aix, we’ll be back! ❤️ #FranceTravel #HiddenGems #FamilyTravel #Provence #AixEnProvence #TravelWithKids #SlowTravel #LuxuryOnABudget 🧳👶
