Alaska ❄️ Plog – Fairbank

Alaska ❄️ Plog – Fairbanks Had a great trip—ate well and had fun (though we didn’t catch the Northern Lights 😭). Friends coming from the East Coast will have it a bit tougher due to the time difference—we usually got back to the hotel after 2 AM (which feels like 5 AM your time 🕔). As someone who hadn’t experienced a real winter up north before, I really loved the snowy scenery ❄️—so beautiful! Sharing what we ate 👇 1️⃣ Lin's Asian Bistro Ordered fish-fragrant eggplant 🍆, king crab 🦀, spicy chicken 🌶️, and squid 🦑. Nothing disappointed—pretty good! 2️⃣ Seoul Gate (Korean) Soft tofu stew (medium spice), mackerel (a bit salty 🐟), beef (didn’t feel fresh 🥩). Honestly just average, but I still ate till full 🍽️. Only go if you’re craving hot soup in winter and really like Korean food. It was close to our hotel—about a 10-minute walk 🚶‍♀️. 3️⃣ Bahn Thai Portions are huge 🍛—our guide said it’s better than Thai House. Drank Thai green milk tea 🥤—I really liked the flavor 😋. Shrimp fried rice 🍤 with cashews and raisins (slightly questionable 😅). Tom Yum soup 🥣—big bowl, totally hit the spot! Green curry beef 🍛—nice coconut aroma. 4️⃣ The Pump House (reservation needed 📅) We went on a Sunday—only lunch buffet available, ~$40+ per person 💸. The taste was just okay, but variety was decent and we left full 🍽️. A bit far from the hotel, needed a taxi 🚖. 5️⃣ The Crepery Crab Melt Crepe 🦀—crab meat with rich, melted cheese 🧀. For activities, be prepared that you might not see the Northern Lights 🌌. Sometimes they’re there, but thick clouds can block the view and make photos tough ☁️📷. Highly recommend dog sledding 🛷 and Chena Hot Springs ♨️—both are unique experiences! Surprisingly, it wasn’t as cold as expected 😌. I even bought snow pants (REI Prospector) 🧥 and a black Canada Goose Trillium jacket 🦢. Next time I’d love to visit the Arctic Circle 📍—didn’t have time this trip, but heard great things from those who went! #Alaska#Fairbanks#Snow#USTravel#DogSledding#StudyAbroadTravel#AlaskaTravel
